Pete, the son of an immigrant Italian farmer, and Beatriz "Bea,” born in Mexico of Dutch descent, worked together raising their family and premium wine grapes at the headwaters of the Russian River in beautiful Mendocino County. Mia Bea is our loving tribute to a woman of inspiring strength, faith, and grace.

Harvest season for a small lot w**ery means late nights, early mornings, and working around the clock with our stellar vineyard team to harvest our Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes. These grapes have been growing since springtime and will soon be crushed and fermented into the delicious w**e we drink year-round. Harvest is the most important time of the year around here, at Mia Bea Wines, our grapes are our top priority 🍇

In the Vines this week: measuring sugar! We use this special tool to measure the “brix” of the grapes, telling us when the best time to harvest will be. These chardonnay grapes are just about ready to pick! Come back next week to see the exciting start to the harvest season.

In The Vines this week: Veraison! 🍇 This is the process by which grapes transition from the “energy creation” stage to the ripening and sweetening stage. You will start to see red grapes turning color and white grapes becoming more translucent, a true sign of the late summer season!
