Bittersweet day for us.

The first time in years we have been without pigs. It was quiet in the barn tonight doing chores… sad to look out & not see pigs going crazy at dinner time. But, in the middle of winter it will be glorioussssss to have one less chore to do.

Today was one step closer to moving Ellie with the herd. We FINALLY moved her from the barn at our house to the pasture ...

Today was one step closer to moving Ellie with the herd. We FINALLY moved her from the barn at our house to the pasture down the road with the cows. A stock trailer was overkill, so we used the mower trailer 😂 She is by herself in a bigger area than before, where she can see and hear the other cows…. And get all her zoomies out!

Brandon went down tonight to turn a light on, make her a bed, and turn the radio on. He said “I turned some oldies on for her”… I think we are having separation issues 🫠

Hamburger was our first calf born on the farm.

He was the first calf we ever had to band…. I didn’t have a damn clue I actually had to pull the testicles down into the sc***um before I banded, resulting in catching the calf AGAIN and getting dragged around the pasture while my husband laughed as I’m yelling for help. Needless to say, we banded him and his actual testicles not just skin 😂

He has been Bubba’s pasture buddy while we separate him from the girls. The day we unloaded Hamburger into the pen, Bubba chased him right out of the hot fence.

Today, we loaded Hamburger up to go to the butcher. Our intentions were to keep him until it was time to process & accompany our bull while he is separated from the females. He served a great purpose here & will feed us for a while 🤍

Cali’s babies eating supper with her 🤍 2.5 weeks old & munchin on foods!

I found my little dwarf nugget dead this morning in the nesting box. It was half the size of the other babies, but doing good. I was rooting for her, but she wasn’t big enough and most likely got smooshed.
