Updated info on Jeff.

Jeff was admitted then transferred from Rappahannock General to Memorial Regional, in Mechanicsville. After some complications during the transfer, Jeff spent the next 11 days being treated for an infection, a concussion, and a deep shoulder and hip bruises. He was then transferred for further care to the rehab unit at Autumn Care in Mechanicsville. As of now, he is expected to remain in rehab for at least 20 days.

We are writing to you today with heavy hearts to share some important news regarding our home away from home, Jeff’s Country Market.
We would like to inform you that, effective Sunday, September 20, we will be temporarily closing the market. As many of you know, Jeff is currently navigating some health challenges, and our priority is to support him during his recovery until he is back home and feeling like himself again.
This was not an easy decision to make. All of us who work here truly love this market—it is more than just a place to shop; it is a place where we have the privilege of connecting with all of you. We are deeply committed to this business and are eager to see it thrive for many years to come.
We want to thank you for your understanding, your patience, and your unwavering support during this time. We look forward to the day we can open our doors and welcome you back with open arms.

Jeff needs your help. He has now been moved to rehab and they expect a minimum stay of 20 days at an out of pocket cost of $238.18 per day. Add that to an additional hospital bill and ambulance bill, and Jeff's facing an additional 15 - $20000. This is after insurance payments.

Hey y’all, we’re open tomorrow Friday, September 18 with a limited hot menu will have pulled pork barbecue and chicken-quarters,chicken salad, coleslaw, and potato salad and of course our amazing sandwiches. See you at the market.

Dear friends:
I want to first say Thank You to all of you. Your well wishes and prayers have been overwhelming and deeply appreciated. I am so thankful to be part of such a caring community. I grew up in an area of PA that was called "The Valley with a heart". You all have shown me (and the staff) how special the Northern Neck is and how big your hearts are.
I am expecting to be discharged from the hospital on Tuesday. This time though I will not be coming home. Instead I will be going to a rehab facility in Fredericksburg, for a time to be determined. While I would much rather be back in the market ASAP, I need to do this for my long term well being.
Because I will be away for an extended and unknown time, I will be reducing the hours that market os open. I will be notifying you here, as soon as I can work out a schedule with all of the staff. This is a TEMPORARY CHANGE until I can recover.

25 years ago, while on duty on Medic 83 outside of Harrisburg PA, I watched as the attacks on the World Trade Center, and the Pentagon unfolded. A call came in to the station and our chief told us to run home to pack a bag, and tell our families we didn't know when we would be back. We returned to our headquarters and we're briefed on what was happening. PA Task Force 1 was activated and heading to New York. We were next to go. All leave was canceled. We were packed up and awaiting deployment orders. The call came that evening that rescue was no longer likely, and although not official, it was now recovery only. We were deactivated, and returned to our regular duty stations. We mourned then and today, the loss of what would become 343 of our brothers. We also mourn and remember those that spent days and weeks working the rubble piles. Those brothers have developed multiple illnesses and have also given their lives.
