Look at these beautiful Robin eggs 🪺

Perhaps, their pretty blue color is just the theme of choice for this mama bird with the pool nearby 😂

But in a spiritual meaning: a robins nest by your home can symbolize protection, blessings and a reminder to trust the journey. 🩵

Turtle 🐢 friends everywhere! Snappers are laying their eggs as usual! And we randomly will find some friendly sun turtles like this one. We let it use the pigs pool and provided some treats.

Just a short 2- day visit…..back into the wild tomorrow. 😆

Turtles can carry salmonella and other bacteria so hand washing is a must after touching and we will give the pig pool a nice wash.

I keep hand soap and dish soap near the barn because hand washing is ALWAYS a good idea. 🫧 🫧

Summer bug control!
If you’ve owned horses- you know the deal!

Early spring starts with the tiny little gnats that swarm the horses faces. We can barely see them but they pop up as soon as that first nice day hits! Which is why those of you who don’t know horses too well start to question why we have masks or blindfolds on our horses 😆 I can assure you that the horses can see perfectly fine through a fly mask and they appreciate the coverage more than anything!!!

Then comes the ticks!!

And then the flies!!

And mid-late summer…..those Giant horse flies with big bulgy eyes that some of us call B52’s due to their loud buzzing sound and direct flight to attack a horse right on their mid rump where they know a tail can’t reach it! They’re the absolute worst. 🥴

So what do we do? Well, fly masks are number one. Fly sheets and even fly boots for their legs. We also spray our horses with fly spray. Fly spray is about $30 a bottle for the “good stuff” which is used up in a week when you have multiple horses! 🙃

So a more cost effective solution can be to make your own! My favorite to make is an old time concoction of white vinegar, skin-so-soft original bath oil, citronella oil, and water. I can make a gallon of it for under $20 and put in my own spray bottles. It smells nice and is non-toxic.

Does it really work? Not sure.

But all we can do is try! 😆🪰🦗🕷️🦟🐜🐝

We lost a bunny yesterday. He was besties with the brown one. Rabbits get very sad and lonely if you take away their friend. So we stuck pistachio with her. I am hoping brown bunny is too old now to conceive but I guess we will see…..they’ve been having honeymoon love for about 24 hours. 😆 but in any event. She’s happy to have a friend.

Heavy on “other people’s problems are not yours to fix”

And it has taken me a long time to learn this! 🌾🌻

Just after 7pm and still light out! We love and appreciate this time of year so much!

The tiny annoying gnats 🪰 are out though. Can you believe with the winter we had, the bugs want to show up even earlier?! Ugh. Go away!

Everyone had fly masks on today including Dixie at Silverstone! I make sure all my babies are happy as possible when enjoying a beautiful day like today! ☀️

My bday is around the corner and when my husband asks me what I want ~ it’s always the same thing.

Nothing babe!

But……can you help me fix a fence or a rabbit cage or a gate or a door ?! 🫶🏻😆 one year he built me a beautiful mounting block. Today, we started fixing some fencing together and cut some brush away from it. I’m going to plant some arborvitae in front of it when it’s finished, to tidy it up!

These are a few of my Favorite things 🎶

Happy 26th to Rain!

I do love to tell people, this horse has been with me through three different last names. 🤦🏼‍♀️ all of my adult chapters, laughs, tears, the best and worst days. She was the first horse I hopped up on after an almost 20 year hiatus. When I was pregnant with Emily I didn’t ride but I’d go visit her and bring treats of course. If you knew and loved Rain in her younger years, you’d love her even more now. She is simply the best and can never be replaced. And at 26 she’s still going! She was so fun to ride in her younger years. The steadiest, most trustworthy soul you could meet. She’d take me over any jump in front of us. She spent a summer doing cross country and loved it. We stayed a week at fieldstone about 5 years ago and horse showed/ it was a moment I will never forget. These days we do a lot of flat work and every now and again will pop over a cross rail. She loves her people. She still puts around once or twice a week for a lesson with her bestie Deb. She will go on the road with me, a trail ride to silverstone, she loves to fly around with Emily on her back. She loves her horse friends, I’m not sure she would ever be able to live without Molly by her side. 😂

I would do anything for this horse. But the truth is, she’s given me more than I could ever give back.

A very happy birthday.
Love you Rainy, you deserve it all!
