The Basement Reno

The Basement Reno A hidden marketplace of local vendors and makers, chefs and mixologists, baristas and beauticians. Post Office.

The Basement is an unexpected experience of the senses located beneath the historic 1933 U.S. This underground venue is a home away from home for those seeking the trendiest, tastiest, and most cutting edge concepts of a modern day floormarketplace. Our mission is to create a multi-use incubator space of both retail and food vendors who all celebrate the craft of the hand. Creating an alternative collaborative culture in the downtown corridor of Reno, NV.

New Updates The Basement | Reno’s Small Business Marketplace
Artist bio: Mindy Bruck
“I grew up in small town Nevada with a passion for art and the wide, beautiful desert. From spending hours oil painting with my gran as a kid, to sketching in every spare minute while raising my two children, I’ve taken a rather unconventional path towards starting a career in art. I have lived in the art-centric cities of Seattle and Tucson but have always come home to Nevada. Over the last decade my husband and children have supported my dream, and given me the opportunity, tools and time to broaden my skills. Focusing mainly on acrylic painting, I’ve explored what the medium can do, adding in layers of hand-cut, hand-painted canvas to many of my pieces, to add depth and interest, opening up a new level of creativity. My goal as an artist is to keep exploring with new techniques in my favorite mediums to portray the beauty I see. I want to be able to capture the complexity and depth of our beautifully familiar and endlessly captivating desert mountain state in paintings and wearable art.”

From ARTown spirit animals to a brand new fence — the Basement Reno glow-up has been over a year in the making 🌿🔨
Back in June 2025, we hosted the ARTown display of spirit animal art for a full month — stunning, colorful, mesmerizing... but rough on the grass underneath. Fast forward to April 2026: we ripped it all out and laid down turf. So. Much. Turf. Eight hours of work later, watering finally began.
And this past Sunday, the final piece went in — a custom fence exclusively fabricated by Jeff Schomberg (yes, the same Jeff behind the Believe sign). Two weeks in, we’re two-thirds done, with completion expected right in the middle of Hot August Nights.
Come see the new development for yourself the last weekend of Hot August Nights — same historic roots, brand new look. See you there 🏗️

New Art Exhibit featuring photography by James Tackett and Paintings by Guillermo Diaz
A short bio by James Tackett

Hello, my name is James Tackett. I guess you could say I was born with a wrench in one hand, and a camera in the other. Growing up we always had 35mm film cameras everywhere, they went on every trip, and gave me my start with photography. My father studied landscape photography under Andel Adams, and handed down the love for capturing landscapes down to me as well. My photography covers a little bit of everything, incorporating my love for vehicles in my motorsports photography, and my love of the gorgeous Nevada desert in my landscapes.
