Greetings from Bachert Boer Goats and Happy 2024! I must apologize for not doing a better job of posting 2023 Bachert Boer Goats show results. From a personal standpoint 2023 was year of getting to work with (10) new families, who had purchased goats from us. I had a blast visiting with the different families and getting to know these awesome 4-H goat exhibitors. It was great attending the different county fairs and seeing Bachert Boer Goats being widely accepted all over the State of Indiana. It is with great humility that I say, “THANK YOU” to each and every family that purchased goats in 2023 from Bachert Boer Goats…you all did an amazing job exhibiting your projects! My family was so blessed in 2023 to be part of the Boer Goat industry and we are extremely grateful for all of friendships we started or friendships continued in 2023.
Professionally 2023 was the most difficult year that my wife (Marla) and I have ever experienced. Between the two of us we started three new jobs in 2023. God had a plan for where he wanted us to work so there were a couple of surprises in 2023. I have been constantly reminded and have found comfort in Proverbs 16:9, “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” God has placed us right where he wants us to work. I am so thankful that Marla and I have found jobs that we enjoy and we are eager to see what God has next for us.
We have (23) December kids on the ground and the Lord willing we will have 12-15 kids in January.
***New in 2024 we will host a Bid Board style of selling our goat kids.*** The plan is for the barn be open for viewing from March 2nd – March 16th. On March 16th at 12PM CST the Bid Board will officially close. The closing bid will be the starting point where we will auction off every lot. You do not need to present to bid, after noontime on the March 16th, but you do need to be close to your phone as we will quickly move through the lots. If no one wants to up the bid then the owner of the closing bid at noontime on the 16th will have successfully purchased that lot. Why are we opting for this type of sale? It has become increasingly difficult to be fair in letting families view/purchase our goats. Everyone wants to be first through the barn and it sucks to keep repeating, “That goat has already been purchased…that goat has already been purchased…that goat has already been purchased!” With the Bid Board every family will have the same opportunity to plan a budget to purchase goats. If you have any questions about the Bid Board or you want to talk goats in general feel free to give me a call at (517) 518-1224 to discuss. Looking forward to working with you in 2024. -Scott Bachert
