You may have been wondering what’s been up with Alpen Gold Honey. We’ve relocated to Japan for a few years and we’re enjoying learning about Japanese beekeeping. This busy bee was finding all sorts of goodness in this flower! Thanks for your past support of Alpen Gold Honey; we’ll let you know when we’re back in business. The beautiful sunny day and warmer temperatures has the girls of Alpen Gold Honey taking a mid-winter cleansing flight (did you know that bees can hold their bladder/bowel for many, many weeks?!). You can see the discolored snow under the hives and the bees in mid-flight. Others cluster on the hive, sunning themselves. Elsewhere around the farm, the snow is littered with bee carcasses of bees who’ve taken their final flight, reducing the number of bees left in the hive to feed for the remainder of the winter.

Sweetest prescription, ever! Doctor’s orders: 1 tsp of honey for strep throat, as needed!

The girls of Alpen Gold Honey did their best, but our hot summer and continued drought really didn’t leave them much to work with in terms of nectar. We harvested about 1/3 of what we had last year, and we are suspending honey orders until we fill those already placed and reassess where we stand. Thanks for remaining an AGH fan!

Now available in limited quantities! Half pint ($5) and pint ($10) jars are yours for the asking. We have about 1/3 of last year's harvest, so it will be gone before the snow flies!!
