Feeder traffic got a little wild today! 😂

These two hummingbirds clipped each other in midair while battling over the “free bar.” Don’t worry, both flew away just fine, but we had to include the instant replay!

Apparently sharing is still not an option. 🌺🐦

🌿 MAUI SUNRISE ELEPHANT EARS ARE ON SALE! 🌿

If you love the bold tropical look of elephant ears but do not have room for one of the enormous varieties, Maui Sunrise may be just what you need!

Maui Sunrise grows into a beautiful, manageable plant around 3 to 4 feet tall. Its glossy green leaves are marked with a striking creamy-white stripe through the center, making it gorgeous in flower beds, large containers, and porch pots.

☀️ Sun: Morning sun or partial sun is an excellent choice here in North Georgia. It can also grow in full sun as long as it receives plenty of water.

💧 Water: Elephant ears love moisture! Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during hot weather and when growing the plant in a container. Do not allow it to dry out completely.

🌱 Will it come back every year? Maui Sunrise is rated hardy to Zone 7b, so it can return each spring when planted in the ground here in our area. The foliage will die back after frost, but the plant rests underground through winter. Give it a good layer of mulch for extra protection. Plants kept in pots should be moved into a protected, frost-free location for winter.

Now this is what we call a happy plant problem! 💜🌿

One of our customers brought back this beautiful Mona Lavender that she purchased from Lamplight Gardens in the spring. It has grown so wonderfully that it was running out of room in its original pot!

We moved the whole root ball, fabric grow pot and all, into a much larger container filled with fresh potting soil. Since the roots readily grow through the porous fabric, they’ll soon spread into all that new soil without us having to tear apart and disturb the plant.

We also trimmed it back a little and turned those trimmings into cuttings, so one flourishing Mona Lavender may soon become many!

We absolutely love seeing plants from Lamplight Gardens thriving in their new homes. And if one grows right out of its pot, well, that’s the kind of problem we’re always happy to help solve! 💜

The hummingbirds around Lamplight Gardens certainly know when their feeders are being refilled! They watch from the trees, peek through the windows, and somehow manage to spread the news before the feeders are even back on their hooks.

One minute the garden is peaceful. The next, it sounds like a tiny squadron has arrived for happy hour.

Apparently, the nectar bar is open, and drinks are on the human! 😂🌺

The absolute best and most unexpected part of becoming a small backyard nursery grower is all the wonderful people you meet along the way.

Yesterday, a sweet lady stopped by with a plant she had brought home from her vacation. While she was away, she thought of little old me and Lamplight Gardens. She was so excited to give it to me, and the funny thing is, I didn’t even know what it was!

But I do now. It is a beautiful staghorn fern, and it is absolutely wonderful. I’m going to do my best to mount it as “fauxfessionally” as I can. 😂🌿

The plant itself is a treasure, but knowing that someone thought of me while she was away makes it even more special. These are the moments I never expected when we started Lamplight Gardens, and they mean more to me than I can say.

Thank you so much for thinking of me and for giving me such a wonderful gift. 💚
