It was a busy day today. 5 new calves tagged, feedlot fed, some rocks picked & some seed sown the old school way... by hand! It was the wettest part of the field & was not an option to plant with the drill.
Then when we thought it was time to head home: 5 heifers trotting thru the neighbors field required an es**rt back to the pasture. (Exactly 2.3 days from getting turned out🤦‍♀️)

This little gal is a prime example of why we moved calving back to May. Calving with nature has no frozen babies!
When we found this poor babe, she had a temp so low, it didn't register on the thermometer (less than 92 degrees F!) So we brought her into our bathroom & rinsed her with hot water till the water heater ran out. Then covered her & dried her & warmed her to 101 (normal body temp). Took about 3 or 4 hrs. But now she's a new calf back out with mom! (That will be closely watched for a while...)
