The antlers are starting to grow! 🦌

Our big herd bull elk with the amazing non-typical rack of antlers (and also our one very rare cow elk with a spike antler) are growing. This is one of the fascinating changes to observe each year.

At this stage, the antlers are covered in a soft, sensitive layer called velvet, which helps provide blood and nutrients while they develop. Over the next few months, they will continue to grow until they become the strong and impressive antlers we all recognize.

Nature is always changing, and it’s amazing to witness these moments up close at Yellowstone Safari Park.
