In the lead up to our first Farmstand Friday and plant sales this weekend, I wanted to share a little about the seedlings we'll have available as well as a plant care tip:
π This season all of our seedling starts are in paperpots, which are basically just simple paper wrappers that hold soil around the plants. They can be a little messy, but we think this system is better for two primary reasons - the plants' roots can breathe better, and this eliminates so many tiny plastic pots going out into the world from the farm.
π
We offer a huge variety of plants! You'll see tomatoes, peppers, broccoli, kale, lettuce, ground cherries, tomatillos, cucumbers, chard, Brussels sprouts, and many types of flowers and herbs on our seedling tables.
π§ It's best to plan to transplant your plant babies soon after getting them home. It looks like night temps are going to stabilize more over the weekend, meaning it could be safe to transplant out warm-weather crops. If you want to wait it out a bit longer, keep a close eye on your seedlings to make sure they are watered well, as the paperpots can dry out faster.
Coming tomorrow: details about our payment options and final reminders before our official season opener on Friday! π₯³
