Dancing Heart Ranch

Dancing Heart Ranch Welcome to Dancing Heart Ranch! We no longer breed or show pygmy goats, but still have a few of the original goats that were born here.

Now we are focusing on raising chickens and our small little homestead.

This is kind of cute and funny! My grandson picked out this particular chicken to be his personal chicken. She has a green band on her leg so I can tell it’s his own chicken. I came out to the coop the other morning and there she was sitting in the nest box. I had to call my grandson on FaceTime and let him watch her lay her egg. She actually turned and faced to the inside of the nest box so we could see the egg pop right out. It was pretty cool and he got a big kick out of it!

This is what the chickens see when they come out to free range for the day. I got
An automatic chicken door that I can either use a remote control to open and close the door or an app on my phone. It’s got a camera facing outside so I can check it every now and then. It’s also nice that I don’t have to go outside to open and close the coop door if i dont feel like it 😂😂😂

Yesterdays egg haul, cleaning the goat barn out for the summertime and the chickens were helping me out with catching bugs and fly larvae that is trying to take hold in the goat barn bedding. 😃😃😃

A few changes going on here lately! We have downsized to just 7 goats. 5 of the girls went to a fabulous home at Finca Agave Retreat in Hempstead Texas. They will be spoiled rotten by the staff and guests, and have a pretty nice goat area to live in!

The remaining goats are Rambo, Demo, Toby, Pepsi, Dottie, Bella Boo and Cupcake ❤️❤️ They’ll live out their lives here.

Also we got some chickens! 20 hens and one Rooster. Will be having a lot of eggs here soon!

Hi everyone! I have a friend who is selling out her small herd of Pygmy does. She has 5 and they are beautiful! Ages range from 2 to about 5, and they are not registered but come from reliable Pygmy goat people so they are purebred. PM me for more details

We had our fist cold front come in last night and temps got down into the 30’s…. I have a carport barn that is open on the front so every winter I enclose the front 3/4 of it to keep draft and bad weather out. This allows my goats to puff up their hair when it gets really cold and hang onto that warm layer of heat that keeps them warm. Drafts would blow that heat off them and cause them to burn so many more calories to stay warm and potentially cause illness. I’ve been doing this ever since the big snow storm in 2021 when half my herd got pneumonia, and have not had a sick goat since! It’s a little redneck looking, but my goats don’t mind one bit!

Today is Camp Davis Mahogany’s last day. She’s been really sick with a virus the last 10 days or so and was actually starting to do better, but now she hasn’t gotten up for 3 days and is not wanting to eat or drink anymore. Her respirations have changed and I dont want her to suffer.

She was one of my very first Pygmy goats I bought from Annette Davis 10 years ago… Mahogany didnt like me much at first, she was pretty wild, but after some forced love and scratches 😂😂, she eventually came around and we established a super close bond. She’s given me some beautiful babies with at least one of them going on to get GRCH wins in a couple of shows.

I absolutely love this goat. We had a mutual respect for each other and she would always call to me when she saw me, even if it wasn’t feeding time 🥰

I haven’t posted here in over a year! A lot has happened, we lost Malin recently due to chronic respiratory illness, I lost Miss Davis a few months ago due to her being rolled over onto her back in the middle of the night and she couldn’t right herself.. Demo is all recovered from his severe illness when I first got him back and is doing well. I am down to 13 goats now. No more plans to breed or show. Toby is still plinking along with his gimpy leg but he’s doing great! Bottom line is, despite a couple of tragic losses, we’re still here just trying to survive this hot and muggy Texas summer!

Anyone looking for a solid breeding buck here’s one you won’t want to pass up on! PM me for more details $400

Last Sunday we had 14 students come out from Texas A&M’s pre vet society for another small ruminant clinic! They are such a huge help with cleaning up around the barn and a huge help with our goat maintenance. Every few months they come out and get to work with the goats and it helps them on their application to vet school. I love helping people learn about goats and they help me in return!

This is Eddie, Eddie is an a$$hole 💩Eddie hates other dogs, he's 17 pounds and could take on a Rottweiler and win. If Eddie had an accent, he would sound like he's from the Bronx, wearing a wife be**er t-shirt and a tattoo that says MOM on his arm. If you got into a bar fight, Eddie would back you up and take on all 5 guys, put his cigarette out on their forehead and not spilling a drop of his beer while doing it. So, if you think you are man enough to adopt him, please be our guest. We want Eddie out of here because he scares our big dogs.
