We’ve raised plenty of chicks out here. Nothing has ever gotten out of this coop until today where the two buildings connect there is a half inch gap. A chicken cannot fit through that. Apparently mine did double fenced.

Dream day! After trotting almost the entire ring solo today. We finished by riding home/ like a real horse!! For a while there I thought I might have to send her off for training. But that lightbulb moment came and it’s very bright! Cecelia ❤️🦄❤️🦄

only one out of the 16 horses that I've personally owned (and probably 100 plus others) has had the brain to be ridden in a ring constantly. His name was Goose. Arena work never soured him and he was the exception/ not the rule. Today everything is blame blame blame, horse behaves badly.....get a vet! Here's something to ponder, miserable horse doesn't move well, is in tension, which can CAUSE back soreness, neck soreness and a slew of other issues. U gotta keep their brains sound too.........trails are the best for this. My old trainer stuck in my brain no more than 50% of riding needs to be in the ring "working". Happy horses don't kill people. Aside from real unsoundness.......poor saddle/bit fit and all the other real medical issues, perhaps you are torturing your horse and poor behavior is a result??? Classy was the horse that taught me everything......when she was unhappy, everyone was unhappy. Quite the puzzle she was and I had vet diagnostics all over the place......she would go from great to rank and became quite dangerous at times.......I learned how to fix her brain. Even the limited dressage "training" we were doing was more than she could handle.......the fix? gallop in a field, take a few jumps, trail ride, break the monotony. It got worse before it got better.
She was screaming and I wasn't listening. I own that. I learned from it.

I'm old........."natural horsemanship" "liberty" whatever it's called today as a foundation; leaves horses clear in their relationship/job. I've always said the whole "you have to ride a young horse 5x a week" isn't really necessary when you have a foundation of trust. Aside from her trying once to pull me to the gate, aside from the poles very incorrectly set up for her, with zero groundwork, this little lady was fantastic after two full weeks off. I don't keep doing liberty or groundwork......that was how we started them, now we get to just ride. I've literally had horses for 33 years and I've never had one that needed to be lunged prior to riding........disengage the hind a few times here and there , sure........but lunging, round pen work, nope.

My feed bill dropped from over 1200 a month to about $400 which is mostly hay pellets and balancers. My hay bill is dramatically decreased. I've never had easy keepers until now. They are officially fat toads. They have my hills to keep them fit(entire farm is like 4 tiers of hill...........we move hay around so they aren't stagnant.......they are all getting worked consistently .......the drought killed off the grass.........yet they are getting fatter! This actually worries me more than the opposite. what to do? young and perfectly healthy and I wanna keep it that way.

Mt. Everett, who wears NO SHOES, consistently gets shoe boils. This particular one is huge and today we attempted to sweat it. Guess how long this stayed on? took 3 people.

Playing with the glasses again. Most of the video's I've taken are of dirt, my feet, the inside of my pocket etc.......and while I got a 40 minute video of absolutely nothing today.....I actually got one/ did it! It's so hard bec you can't tell if they are on or not unless you are still and in decent shade. Maia had a bee in her bonnet, a bug up her butt, something today.....however, I learned how much I actually converse with her while riding....kinda fun.

planned on riding her today, the wind was insane....figured we'd do a little bonding/ as in don't climb on my head when u get scared....work instead. she was lovely after a few of these episodes.

"The amendment is Section 47-1-65 and states "It is unlawful to knowingly and willfully discharge fireworks less than 200 yards from a facility housing equine. A person who violates this provision is guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction, must be fined $250.00" IT PASSED OUT OF COMMITTEE UNANIMOUSLY!!! We have a lot of work to do to get it to pass the floor, but the first hurdle has been jumped." This is for the entire state of SC, where mortars are legal and plentiful.
