Three expressions of Cabernet Sauvignon, three AVAs, three years. All quite different. Grosgrain Vineyards 2018 absolutely deserves kudos for their outing that year, as after three days open under vacuum seal the dark fruit flavors carry the day. A great expression of Seven Hills Vineyard by any definition.

Kiona Vineyards and Winery 2017 is a wonderful experience of what their Red Mountain vineyards can do, and the to***co notes are subtle but round out the experience. It’s oxidizing at the edges so drink in the next few years if the big red fruit is what you crave.

Monarcha Winery’s 2020 is an absolute baby, and nothing like the others. While the first two lean into deep fruit characters, Victor Palencia charts a path of freshness that while not for all Cab palates is accessible and honestly the most approachable during summer. 2020 shows the balance 2019 missed, and at under $30 is a dangerous steal. Full ratings to follow later when it has a chance to develop more.

Experience the enchanting allure of Washington State's 2014 Côtes de Ciel Cellars Cabernet Franc, hailing from the esteemed Ciel du Cheval Vineyard in the Red Mountain AVA. Imagine, if you will, a tranquil garden terrace as you inhale the rich bouquet of dark cherries and plums, gently underscored by the whispers of espresso, terracotta, and eucalyptus. Your first sip confirms the promise of the aroma: a vibrant tapestry of cherry pie and white pepper, culminating in a satisfying cappuccino crescendo. Undoubtedly, this Cabernet Franc ranks as one of our top picks for the year. While it's no longer listed on their website, we highly recommend seeking out a bottle if you can - a delight not to be missed.

Appreciating that Walla Walla Steak Company went in for the 2010 Bionic Wines Cayuse Impulsivo when the 2019 ran out… that’s commitment to a wine experience!

Our first time at Reveal Walla Walla Valley by Walla Walla Valley Wine ended up with one of us sick 😞, but what the other got to try showed the true power and capability of what Washington let loose can do. Big-time shoutouts to favorites Adamant Cellars, Tranche Cellars, Corliss, Eternal Wines, Gramercy Cellars, and a big wow to Caprio Cellars for their brand new wine, Concetta.

You’ve got to love the little touches a winery makes for allocation, and Ducleaux Cellars it’s hard not to appreciate the little handwritten note. We’re looking forward to trying everything inside!

LOVING that is here with our first shipment of Bionic Wines No Girls!!! Tasting notes this weekend should reveal if the wait on the allocation list was worth it. In the meantime, we are loving just looking at these bottles and the potential of what is in them. 💕

Pulling a video from the way back machine that was one half of this partnership’s first foray into wine social media, it’s funny how even 13 years ago Gary Vaynerchuck got the “Robitussin” element from a Dunham Cellars Trutina - a sign (a good one in our opinion) of Washington wine.

Have you ever experienced the “ ‘tussin” flavor in a Washington red blend, and if so which one?

Southside Local’s Weekend turned into and that’s a good thing for all as it’s a great reminder leading up to Release to not forget about the great wines already out during Washington Wine Month!

Before meeting our new friends at Spring Valley Vineyard and Lawrelin Wines yesterday, we had an amazing brunch experience with the great folks at Kinglet. If you’ve never visited (they’re next door to Seven Hills), it’s worth the journey. Every meal was fantastic. Who can fault fresh truffle omelets or chicken and waffles? And while we didn’t get to try anything from the wine cellar, the mimosa was phenomenal and the collection visible to onlookers was impressive. We will definitely be back again!
