As Virginia Commonwealth University students make their way back to campus this weekend for the start of a new semester, consider this your official reminder that we’re just a short walk away. Catch up with roommates, celebrate surviving the first week, or turn a casual “let’s grab a drink” into a full dinner at Birdie’s.

Reminder that National Oyster Day is August 5! 🦪

We’re reminiscing about our unforgettable day with Matheson Oyster Co. in 2024 where we had the chance to experience oysters at their source. From learning about their sustainable growing practices to enjoying oysters fresh from the waters of Mobjack Bay, it gave us an even greater appreciation for the people behind every harvest.

As a female-owned, family-operated business rooted in Gloucester, Virginia, Matheson Oyster Co. is guided by a mission of caring for the planet, their community, and each other, values that shine through in every oyster they grow.
