An unforgettable dinner—with a murderous twist.

Join us at Black Iris Social Club for an immersive evening of exceptional food, w**e pairing and education, craft cocktails, fine art, premium ci**rs and mystery.

The evening begins with welcome cocktails from Waterman’s Spirits, followed by a family-style dinner prepared by Chef James Ball of Rappahannock Oyster Co. The menu features Rappahannock oysters, whole roasted chicken, hickory-smoked pork tenderloin, fried flounder, seasonal sides and Virginia-inspired desserts.

Throughout dinner, enjoy w**e pairings presented by Stan Joynes of Valley Road Vineyards as an immersive murder mystery unfolds around you, presented by The Cyber Space.

Richmond Bailliage Announces Jake Crocker as New Bailli

The Richmond Bailliage of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs is pleased to announce the election of Jake Crocker as Bailli de Richmond, the president of the organization’s Richmond chapter for a three-year term after serving in several prior leadership roles with the organization.

Crocker is a former Richmond restaurateur whose career has remained closely connected to the hospitality industry. Today, he works with restaurants and hospitality businesses across the Commonwealth of Virginia as a consultant and restaurant technology leader with Global Payments. His background as both an operator and consultant brings a restaurateur’s perspective to his new role leading the Richmond Bailliage. His wife, Chantel Crocker, owns and operates Sip Société W**e Boutique.

La Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs is an international gastronomic society headquartered in Paris, France. Its heritage traces to 1248, when King Louis established the guild of the Ayeurs, or goose roasters. The modern Chaîne was revived in Paris in 1950 and today brings together nearly 25,000 professional and non-professional members in more than 75 countries in celebration of fine dining, the culinary arts and the camaraderie of the table.

Richmond has its own distinguished place within that tradition. The Richmond Bailliage was established in 1979 by the late Master Chef Paul Elbling, the Richmond dining icon behind La Petite France. Crocker succeeds longtime Bailli Jacques Moore and looks forward to building upon that legacy while introducing a new generation of Richmond-area culinary professionals and enthusiasts to the Chaîne.

A new membership season begins September 1

The Richmond Bailliage welcomes both professional members from the restaurant, culinary, w**e and hospitality industries and non-professional members who share a passion for exceptional food, w**e and fellowship. That combination of professionals and gastronomes at the same table is one of the traditions that distinguishes the Chaîne worldwide.

With the new dues season beginning September 1, this is an especially good time to apply: under the U.S. Chaîne’s current dues structure, new members joining after September 1 are considered paid through December 31 of the following year. The Richmond Bailliage is now planning upcoming inductions and invites prospective members to apply and become part of its next chapter.

Hurd brings a thoughtful, precision-focused approach to w**emaking, shaped by hands-on experience across Napa Valley and a deep respect for Somerston’s rugged terrain. Working with vineyards that span dramatic elevations, rocky hillsides, and diverse soil compositions, he is known for crafting w**es that balance power with restraint—allowing purity of fruit and sense of place to take center stage.
A highlight of the evening is Course III, where coffee-braised short rib—finished with potato foam, dill oil, and crisped russet chip—is paired with Priest Ranch, Cabernet Sauvignon.
