I needed beet powder for a recipe and I couldn’t find it in my town or online for a good price, so I made my own! 😀

It’s super easy, grow (or buy in this case) some beets, clean and peal them, slice them thinly - I used my food processor, and then lay them out in a dehydrator or in your oven. Once dry enough to snap in half, put them in a coffee grinder (or blender/food processor) and grind them up into powder! Store in an airtight container.

On the day when it was finally time to take Freyja to the fair, it was pouring rain. Goats hate being wet. So, we weren’t going to make her ride in the bed of the truck and we sure weren’t going to hook up the trailer for one goat, so we just put her in the cab. 😂 Aaand we brought her home loose in the back of our Jeep. I’ll be darned if she didn’t p*e BOTH TIMES the minute we opened the door to let her out. 🤦🏼‍♀️

She’s a model, that’s for sure 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

One of our goats went to the fair last week. She had an excellent time! We cherished the time we had getting to know the lovely and capable young person that showed her and can’t wait for next year’s fair, hopefully with a couple more kids and a lot more of our animals going! It’s a hard journey going from being a city kid to spending multiple nights a week on the farm taking care of animals, and it’s a challenging journey for everyone involved, but it’s well worth it. ❤️

Meet our newest additions! They don’t have names yet, but they weighed in at 2.7 and 3.1 pounds at birth. They’re Nigerian Dwarf goats.

We are thinking of opening the farm for goat play on the weekends. Toying with the idea of private time slots where individual groups can come out and play with all of our young goats. What does everyone think of the idea?

We also get asked a lot about goat yoga, what would the interest be in our community for goat yoga?

Free range Friday! We love to see our animals out roaming as they please. We free range as many of our animals as possible as often as possible. Our goats and our poultry are free range all of the time. Our other animals still need to be supervised because we don’t want them to wander too far from safety.

Today we got some of our gardens turned over and planted! We are excited for our spring crops and anticipating lots of radishes, we did an entire bed of them. Oops! Soon we will be adding in more raised beds to get ready for the rest of the season!
