The Farm at VYCC is a program of the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps. www.vycc.org We unite the community around health, nutrition and food access for all.

The Farm at VYCC empowers struggling Vermont families to participate in the farm to table movement and experience improved health and quality of life. We cultivate leaders as well as delicious, organic food. The Farm draws its labor from:
- Highly passionate, educated young adults who aspire to enter the field of agriculture and community food systems.
- Youth seeking skills, practical career options, and personal and professional development opportunities.
- Volunteers from our partners and the community. (Thank you, Volunteers!)

Our farmstand will be closing October 18th! Come and stop by to get some fall crops while they last. We have Butter & Honeynut squash as well as Sweet Potatoes. Other produce includes Onions, Garlic, Arugula, and Lettuce.

We would like to thank everyone who stopped and shopped at our farm-stand. Your contribution has not only supported our Healthcare Share but overall made it a great season. We love sharing the fresh veggies grown with the local Richmond community. Hope to see you next season!

We can’t believe it’s Squash!
As we transition into Fall, more and more squash are ready to be harvested. They must go through a curing process before being ready to eat. This entails a huge squash take over in our propagation house. Soon we will have Honey and Butter Nut Squash in our healthcare share and farm stand! Yum!

The day has finally come to say goodbye to our tomato plants. We did our final pick of tomatoes and are starting to flip the high tunnels in order to prepare for winter crops. Come and get some tomatoes in our farm stand before they are all gone!

Let’s give a round of applause for our hardworking and dedicated 2026 leaders! Leader positions at the farm range from leading youth and crews to production management, such as tractor work or compost delegation. These positions last from March to October and are a great way to experience management and leadership in agriculture. We have one thing always on our mind…..TOMATOES!!

Here at the farm at VYCC, tomato season is in full bloom! From beautiful striped heirloom tomatoes to tiny cherry tomatoes, we have so much to choose from. Come and pick up some at our farm stand before we eat them all!

🧄🧄The Great Garlic Harvest! 🧄🧄

The other week, we had our annual garlic harvest, which is truly a team effort. All the crews and leaders come together to help with the harvest in order to get it all done in one day and into the West Monitor Barn for curing. Soon our cured garlic will appear in the healthcare and the farm stand!

🥒 It’s a Squash-a-Poolza!! 🥒

Our summer squash has been thriving this year, and we have an abundance of beautiful zucchini—maybe even more than we know what to do with! Our kitchen has been getting creative with ways to incorporate it into our farm team lunches with everything from zucchini fritters to zucchini bread. It’s all been so tasty!

Want to take some zucchini off our hands? Please do!! We are practically drowning in it!

Stop by our farmstand and pick up fresh zucchini for just $1 each. Our kitchen staff has also prepared shredded zucchini, so you can skip the prep and get straight to cooking. You could maybe even give this delicious Chocolate Zucchini Bread recipe a try!

Our healthcare shares have been up and running for the past three weeks now! So far, we have sent out over 1,000 shares across Vermont and New Hampshire. Our farmers have been hard at work tending to our crops, harvesting, and packing the shares to be sent out.

The healthcare shares are part of the Food Is Medicine program, which aims to alleviate diet-related illness by providing a free produce prescription

Thank you to our community crew volunteers who joined the farm this past Thursday! This week we had volunteers w**d basil beds so they can grown big and healthy for our healthcare share. Afterwards they picked out two produce items from our farmstand, a benefit we are offering to anyone who comes in for a volunteer shift. Additionally if you are a city market member you get a discount through accruing volunteer hours.

Chittenden Solid Waste District (CSWD) aims to reduce waste through turning food scraps into soil. Members of the community can drop off their food waste throughout the area. CSWD also drops off grindings for our new compost system. In return we will start a weekly field trip where members can see the facility while helping sort trash out of compost in order to produce cleaner soil. This week marked the first of many trips to the facility!
