🍻Cheers to keeping the legend alive. Legend Brewing Co., Virginia’s oldest continually operating brewery, is partnering up with Hardywood to transition production and wholesale operations of its iconic Brown Ale to ’s West Creek facility.
Under the strategic partnership announced today, Hardywood will assume responsibility for the production, distribution, and wholesale sales of ’s Brown Ale.
The agreement represents a full-circle moment for both breweries. When Hardywood was founded in 2011, the team at Legend Brewing Co. helped brew its first commercial batch of Hardywood Singel.
“To now be trusted with the stewardship of Legend Brown Ale is an incredible honor for our entire team,” said Eric McKay, co-founder and CEO of Hardywood Park Craft Brewery. “By utilizing the scale, quality control, and efficiency of our West Creek facility, we can brew Legend Brown Ale with the same passion, integrity, and world-class quality that Virginia beer lovers have counted on for over three decades.”
Legend’s journey began in a small tasting room and pub off an old gravel road on West 6th Street in Richmond’s Historic Old Manchester District. For 32 years, the brewery has stayed true to its roots while adapting to changing times.
Legend President Tom Martin shared, “Legend Brewing Co. is looking forward to the future of working with the fine team of brewers at Hardywood Park Craft Brewery to produce our flagship Legend Brown Ale for many more years to come. With current craft beer market conditions, we feel very fortunate to be able to consolidate production into their excellent and modernized brewing facility. We will continue to operate our Pub at 321 W. 7th St. for the foreseeable future. As always, many thanks to all our loyal Legend Brown Ale fans.”
