W**E OF THE WEEK

SANTIAGO QUEIROLO, Since 1880
Vino de la Magdalena Reservado and Gran Vino Borgoña, Ica Valley, Peru

This one comes with a story I carry in my heart.

When I was in Peru, a friend put this bottle in my hands. Not as a goodbye gift, as a nos vemos muy pronto gift.

She told me, this is not to say goodbye, it is so you take a little piece of us with you and you remember to come back soon.

And she was right. Because the taste of Peru, of our culture, of our w**e, it is never a goodbye. It is always a see you soon.

That is why I had to bring it to Kramers. So we can all have that feeling here.

Santiago Queirolo has been making w**e since 1880, over 140 years of tradition from their own vineyards in the sun filled Ica and Cañete Valleys in southern Peru.

We brought in two beautiful ones.

First, Vino de la Magdalena Reservado. The classic. Deep ruby, made with Malbec and Tannat. Aromas of black plum, red cherries, red berries. Semi sweet, silky, round, soft on the palate. Elegant but so easy to drink. Best at 60 degrees, perfect with our Pollo a la Brasa or just on its own.

Second, Gran Vino Borgoña. The taste of Peru itself. Made from Borgoña grapes, Isabella and Concord, that only grow in our corner of the world. Dark cherry with a violet rim, notes of raspberry and fig jam. Sweet, light bodied, joyful, like a young Port with all the heart of South America, best at 64 degrees (idk how to do the little symbol thingie for degrees).

Both are Semi Sweet Red, not heavy, not bitter. Just warm, friendly, made for sharing around the table with people you love.

For me, every sip is that promise, nos vemos muy pronto.

Come grab a bottle this week at Kramers Market, 406 N Cleveland St, Richmond VA. Let us toast to friendship that never says goodbye.

Salud familia. Gracias por tanto apoyo siempre.

Sabor a Casa, Part, we have lost count. Because some flavors become family. And Peruvian Point is back.

But first I want to tell you about my friend Andrea.

She came to this country carrying little more than hope in her hands and a dream in her chest.

No map. No guarantees. Just courage.

And look what courage has done.

Today she stands, not just as the owner of Peruvian Point along with her husband, but as a testament. As living proof that when a woman decides to build her destiny with her own two hands, destiny listens.

Andrea is resilience with a smile.
She is the 5 a.m. mornings and the midnight cleanups.
She is hard work made graceful.
She is a powerhouse who has never once forgotten to lead with heart. Every pot she stirs, every plate she serves, holds a piece of who she is.

To know her is to be inspired.
To taste her food is to understand her.

And this Saturday, she brings her heart back home to Kramer’s Market, under that red and white flag, with that smile that could make a stranger feel at home, that table that always feels like an invitation.

Come and taste the journey:

Shrimp, bright as the coast,
Her famous chicken, golden, tender, legendary for a reason,
And a creme caramel so silky, so sweet, it feels like the final verse of your favorite song.

It will nourish more than your hunger.

This is Sabor a Casa.
This is hope you can taste.
This is what happens when dreams refuse to quit.

Let us gather for her the way she has always gathered for us.

THIS SATURDAY, 12pm to 3pm, In front of Kramer’s Market

Bring your friends. Bring your appetite. Bring your love. Let us sell her out before the clock strikes three.

Andrea… keep showing us how it is done.

W**E OF THE WEEK: Barnard Griffin 2025 Chardonnay, Washington State

Some bottles just feel like home. This one does.

Barnard Griffin has been family owned and operated since 1983, when w**emaker Rob Griffin and his wife Deborah Barnard started with borrowed grapes and a rented cellar and a dream to do things the right way. Over 40 years and almost 50 harvests later, Rob is still at the helm, now Washington’s longest practicing w**emaker, alongside Deborah and their daughter Megan, their second generation w**emaker.

It is a story of consistency, humility, and showing up for your community year after year. Quality, Consistency, and Character, that is literally written on the label, and you can taste it.

Their 2025 Chardonnay is exactly what we love about Washington. Think fragrant tangerine and lime, with layers of peach and lemon zest, bright, clean, and just bursting with fruit that goes on and on. Partial barrel fermented so it is round and welcoming, but still crisp and fresh. The kind of w**e that makes a Tuesday night dinner feel like a celebration.

It is an incredible value from a family that has given so much to Washington w**e country, who still works with small family growers and believes great w**e should be for everyone.

Come grab a bottle this week and raise a glass with us, to family, to resilience, to small businesses that have become institutions, and to our amazing community that keeps supporting them.

We love this one. We think you will too.

Available now on the shelf, limited 2025 vintage.

W**E OF THE WEEK, The Dude Napa Valley Red Blend, Canepa Koch W**e Cellars

This one really tied the shelf together.

You know this label brings to mind countless Big Lebowski moments and the w**e inside absolutely abides.

The Dude is not some bulk fruit White Russian. It is 100 percent Napa Valley fruit sourced from legit AVAs like Calistoga, Coombsville, Rutherford and Howell Mountain. The w**emakers behind it, Mark Canepa and Neil Koch, have more than 25 years in Napa and met at the Seguin Moreau cooperage, so yeah, The Dude knows his barrels.

The Blend is 62 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 14 percent Cab Franc, 12 percent Merlot, 12 percent Malbec. Only 1600 cases made.

In the glass,
The aroma is immediately captivating, ripe black fruits like blackberries, black cherries and plums, with cassis, currant, cedar, to***co and a touch of vanilla. On the palate it is medium to full, velvety, with dark chocolate, toasted oak and baking spices, firm tannins and vibrant acidity for a long, elegant finish.

Dark, rich and jammy with blueberry, spice, cocoa bean, outlined in sweet French oak. Fat, round and ready to drink now, no need to wait like you are waiting for the nihilists.

This is not Nam. This is Napa. There are rules. And rule number one, when you find affordable Napa that drinks like this, you buy it by the case.

The Dude abides. And so will this bottle at your table.
