The choice for 'E' was East Coast Provisions. We really enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and yummy food at this Carytown joint on a dreary, wet night. We lucked out with a cozy spot by the fireplace in the small dining nook at the front of the restaurant. ECP is a decent sized place for Carytown with dining and bars on 2 floors and a private room upstairs in the back.

Of course we started off with libations. Nicole had wine (some kind of white) and I had the bourbon basil smash cocktail, delicious. For a starter, we enjoyed the fried Calamari with spring onions & cilantro, tossed with sambal honey lime sauce. Yummy with spicy kick at the end.

For our mains, Nicole had the roasted rockfish with bay leaf polenta, asparagus, arugula, prosciutto, dates, parmesan, lemon. To me it looked like grilled fish with a salad on top and was quite tasty. I had the short rib ragout with gnocchi and ricotta. The ragout was very rich and filling, had to take some home.

ECP was a warm, cozy dining experience with yummy food. A good inspiration for our walk down Cary Street after dinner on a wet, chilly evening. Looking forward to visiting again.

Ok, we've been slack in posting. Busy, busy. A couple of weeks ago, on a rainy Thursday, we tried Dinamo for dinner. Dinamo is a small Italian restaurant on Cary Street by VCU. It is Edo Squids' sister restaurant. Scott ordered scallops with squid ink fettuccine. The scallops were huge and the pasta was garlicky. He enjoyed it very much. I had homemade sausage with white beans and polenta. It was good, but not great. They served the wine in little juice glasses. Not my favorite way to drink red wine. It was very dark in there and you're right next to the kitchen no matter where you sit. Overall, it was ok, but I don't know that I would seek it out again.

'C' is for Cafe Rustika. RVA's Only Schnitzel Bar and German Comfort Food Joint! Cozy vibe with traditional German cafe feel. We shared a delicious pork Rahmschnitzel which is Schnitzel with lemon cream suace and Blaukraut (red cabbage braised in stock, vinegar and spices), Gurkensalat (marinated cucumbers, onion, sour cream, parsley and dill), and skillet fried potatoes. Also, we had an order of Käsespätzle. So cheesy! The Austrian wine and Belgium beer were delightful. Great service and reasonably priced. Prost! Cafe Rustika

After a pause due to weather will be going out tonight to hit our letter C restaurant. Anyone have any suggestions for what restaurant C should be? I have two ideas but I wanna hear yours!

B is for Blue Habenero! On Friday, we went to this recommended Mexican restaurant located in the Fan. The decor was fun, drinks were great, and the street tacos and burritos were absolutely delicious! We loved the bright and fun vibe. The service was good, and our food arrived promptly. The queso with chorizo appetizer was a crowd-pleaser, and the Pastel de Elote, a sweet corn cheesecake dessert with berries, was a sweet treat that didn’t last long with our group!

'A' is for Abuelita's. Start with some rice, add your beans, then the guiso of your choice. abuelitasrva

The tradional meal offered 8 different types of guiso. Lots of other menu options. Some non-traditional items, like the birria ramen. Everything we tried was yummy comfort food. Great on a dreary night.

Meal with beverage $10 to $20

Dinner at Abuelita's. Let the challenge begin!
