First SXS ride for Sara and she is on the fence whether she likes it or not.
New baby calf and Ellie said we would name it George Washington. When I told her it was a girl, she changed the name to Helen. It makes sense to Papa.

Grass fed? Organic? What do we have at Lake Gracie?

I don’t have a lot of mumbo-jumbo and government red tape that costs money that must be passed on to the consumer. I don’t have a lot of rules and regulations and inspectors poking and prodding on my cattle.

What I do have is quality beef, raised on grass and hay. No antibiotics. No hormones. No booster shots. They get protein blocks. They get minerals. I may even grind up a stalk of corn and feed them, but I know what I am feeding them. I don’t give them commercial feeds with fillers. I plant very specific grazing forages for them. We use natural dewormers.

What does this mean to you? This means you are getting beef, just like it was when it walked off Noah’s ark. You are getting top quality, lower fat content… all the good stuff. Your beef came from Perry County. You can drive by and see him standing out there eating grass and swatting flies with his tail. Your beef will be processed in Leakesville, MS. There is no mystery meat at Lake Gracie!

You are not getting a heavily marbled Wagyu steak that would be served at a high-end steakhouse. Your average household does not serve that anyway. Most folks get ground beef and tenderized steak, with a couple of roasts tossed in. That will take care of your household for a solid year if you handle it properly. I can show you the math on that.

At this time we have four that will be available next year, and when I say “next year” I am talking about 9 months to 12 months from now. The time to speak up for your yearling is NOW. I operate on the honor system and it won’t cost you a nickel to tell me you want one. I do expect you to hold up your end of the bargain when the day arrives.

This could be you but you are shopping at Walmart for your beef.

Shop local!

We are sold out for the year but there are many local farmers around that still have beef. Grass fed, grain fed…I’m sure they can accommodate you.

The beef you are looking at in this picture is a combination of filet mignon cubed steak, roasts, and ground beef. That is about all we eat…well, I like liver too. We have a different cut preference than others. The way you choose to cut up and use your beef will affect the usable yield.

What you see in this picture is $1.50 per pound net cost because it was our steer. To compare apples to apples, I will add the cost of the steer…

$6.25 per pound all in, in this scenario.

You cannot beat that with a stick. You know where the animal came from and you know what it was fed. At Lake Gracie we are grass fed only. We specialize in Piney Woods crossed with commercial beef (Angus, Braunveigh, etc). No hormones, no commercial feed. I’m not poking sticks at the others, I’m just telling you how we raise ours.

You can partner up with a friend or relative and split an animal any way you want to to keep your costs down.

We have four that will be ready next year…if you want to speak for one let me know. If you are looking for a local farmer, I know plenty and I will help you any way I can.

We highly recommend CUTTING EDGE MEAT COMPANY in Leakesville, MS! Awesome folks and top notch service!
