It's Mother's Day with Dave Norris at Woodlawn!

Join us for an afternoon at Woodlawn with Dave Norris, bringing his voice to this county since he was born, and his guitar playing almost as long.

Stop by St. Inigoes General Store for some great sandwiches (4 mi North on Route 5) grab some wine at the Wine Cottage, and enjoy a Spring Sunday with us!

Although we're plumb out of Slack wines, we have wine by the glass --- and some to taste as well, and the To***co Barn Distillery whiskies and St. Inigoes Coffee as well. Slack wines will be on the shelf again in early July. Dang those agricultural products, not hurrying up for us....

Friends,

Woodlawn will not be open on Easter Weekend.

Next Sunday, April 23rd, we'll continue our Sunday Farmer’s Market at Woodlawn with local products and hand-made goods (St. Inie’s Coffee, To***co Barn Distillery Whiskey, eggs, produce, flowers/potted plants, jewelry etc) as well as Slack wines.

Because our 2016 Slack wines are not ready yet, and we’re out of the 2014 and 2015, we’re serving guest wines (with tastings as well) until early June when we expect our own wines back on the shelves. We’ll start musicians again Sunday, May 7th.

Slack Farms takes a break this weekend both Saturday and Sunday March 25 and 26 as we transition from Winter to Summer. Farm duties at both Woodlawn and Jubilee, and a wedding at Woodlawn on Sunday mean we'd love to see you.... next weekend on Sunday April 2, 2017 12 - 6 pm at Woodlawn for our 5k with SkillsUSA and in support of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

What a great day for Slack and Field. 250+ kids and adults ran the annual Slack & Field Race at Woodlawn, organized by Catherine Grube and run on true cross-country trails over hill and dale, 5K and 1K for the young 'uns. Here are a few of the shots for the day. Many thanks to the Sneakers Club for getting so many children in to a healthy habit. Thanks to Catherine and our incredible speaker-advocate for Downs Syndrome, David.

America is really a great place in which to live. It's not down in the dumps. And it is not a doom & gloom story. It's a great story. Right here. Right now. Join a happier camp of people at Slack Winery who think America has been great for a long time and will continue to be so.

And if I can't convince you, our wine should. To quote a decade old line from one of my favorite writers, Adam Gopnik, in turn quoting Saul Steinberg “Wine is the only thing that makes us happy as adults for no reason.”

Politics got you down? Summer heat? Your neighbor's xenophobia? Well here at Slack, we're getting ready to toast our two 2015 Summer intern alumae, Sabine & Anna, who've paved the way for our 2016 interns, Viki and Rita, who arrive from Austria on Monday. Vicki and Rita have surely been briefed that they must carry on the tradition of posting daily blogs of life at Jubilee and Woodlawn in the Slack tradition -- new sports, yoga on the deck, turtles and swans --- though the latter are northward now. America in its splendor --- let's not be fooled otherwise.

Love celebrating this photo of Anna (left) and Sabine (right) as we rested our kayaks off the Potomac shoal at the end of Blake Creek, on a sultry summer day last summer, SoMD style where life is good, wine lingers in the mouth, and "Only thing we have to fear is fear itself".

Join Slack this Saturday at Jubilee with Davis Norris on guitar, and Sunday at Woodlawn with Tammy and Jeff who go by Americana, for a weekend celebrating the casual goodness of America. And if you forget why, we'll just have to hand you a glass of Slack wine.
