NOTICE:
Through the years we have owned our berry fields, we have noticed several issues that have made it increasingly difficult to survive as a UPick farm. Two of those issues have been theft and damage.
It is difficult to monitor people in the fields. Sometimes, people eat while picking, steal berries after hours, or only bring up a portion of what they pick for payment. This is a serious blow to our revenue.
Equally as serious is the callous disregard for the maintenance of the berry canes. Both children and adults climb through the rows severely damaging the canes and rendering them useless. New, young canes are trampled, as well.
This can not continue. We have reminded people, placed signs, issued warnings, and removed people who refuse to abide by the rules. Our revenue and future are impacted now to the point that we are contemplating closing as a UPick and finding other alternatives for selling our raspberries. Until we make this decision, the fields will be closed to the public and opened only to a select few. For the people that Sherri and Don have spoken to directly or who have pre-arranged to come pick, please call them directly if you have any questions or show up as you have been scheduled.
If you would like to schedule a time for you or your group to pick, please contact the farm to make arrangements. We will be opening the fields only to those who have been preapproved.
We regret having to take these steps, but each year has been worse than the one before. It is always a chance you take when inviting people onto your property, but we must reconsider opening to the general public as a UPick at this time. Should this change, we will post details on our FB page.
Thank you.
