This Memorial Day weekend hits a little differently.

Last week my brother, GySgt Jose Ortiz (USMC Ret.), and his amazing wife Diana came out to Luna Farm and helped me replace our flag pole. As fellow Marines, Jose and I know the meaning of service, sacrifice, and the friendships forged through it all. Diana stood beside him through his entire career, carrying her own share of sacrifices that military families understand so well.

Seeing that flag raised again reminded me how grateful I am. Grateful for the brothers and sisters who made it home, and forever honoring and remembering the ones who gave everything and never got the chance to. And grateful for the friends and family who continue showing up for us here at Luna Farm — helping with chores, projects, animals, and the never-ending farm work.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend. It’s about remembering those who gave everything so we could enjoy moments like these with our families, our freedom, and this simple life we’re building together.

To everyone who has pitched in, supported us, and stood beside us over the years — thank you. We don’t take it for granted. 🇺🇸
