Cooler Wisconsin weather means cozy meals are officially back on the menu. 🍂🤎

Tonight’s dinner was tater tot casserole—one of those simple, warm comfort meals that just hits the spot when the temperatures start dropping. I love a good casserole this time of year, and I have a feeling a big pot of chili will be making an appearance sometime this week too. 😋

But dinner sparked a debate at our table, so we need your help settling it…

What DOES—and absolutely DOES NOT—belong in tater tot casserole?! 😂

Cream of mushroom or cream of chicken? Corn? Green beans? Cheese? Onions? Seasonings? And most importantly… are the tater tots lined up neatly or just dumped on top? 👀

Evening family walks 🤍

The kids love getting out on the bike trail—running, playing tag, and, of course, challenging Dad to a race. Meanwhile, I love slowing down, being outside in nature, and watching my favorite people simply enjoy life together.

These are the moments I never want to take for granted. Nothing extravagant, just time together, making memories. Truly, the highlight of my everyday is time spent with them.

By the end, those little legs were worn out. Sissy and Wickham caught a ride home in the stroller, while Dad’s shoulders gave Porter the best view for the trip back.

Winter is coming, and soon we’ll have to find a different rhythm for our family evenings. But for now, I’ll cherish these nights outside—the fresh air, the laughter, the races, and a little extra time together before the seasons change. 🌿🤍

🐣 Hatch Update!

Of our 30 eggs, 22 made it to lockdown and 15 have hatched so far! These little fluff balls are officially loaded up and headed to the brooder. 🤍

This hatch is a fun mix of Olive Eggers, Black Copper Marans, and other speckled egg layers—all part of our ongoing mission to add even more beautiful colors to our egg basket. 🥚✨

The remaining 7 eggs are getting a few extra days in the incubator in case we have some late arrivals.

Now for the next waiting game… fingers crossed we’re looking at lots of future little hens and not a basket full of roosters. 😂🤞🐓

All hands on deck today! 🚜🐴

We’ve been busy digging and laying waterlines for the automatic waterers going into our new horse stalls. Like most projects around here, everyone gets to be part of the process—even the littlest helpers. 🤎

The goal is for each new stall to have its own automatic waterer, complete with heat for those cold Wisconsin winters. One more step toward getting this barn project finished and making daily chores a little easier!

A lot of digging now for a whole lot less hauling water later. 🙌🐴

A little afternoon s’mores break 🤎🔥

We paused our day of putting waterlines in the barn when Porter snuck into the camper and came back with s’mores for everyone to enjoy. 🥹 He’s always thinking of others and has such a sweet, thoughtful heart.

Nothing fancy—just a little treat and a good reason to slow down together in the middle of a busy project day. 🥰
