Story time: we purchased our 1st registered buck in January 2020. At that time, we only had 1 percentage doe. That fall, we went to a few production sales. Not many within reasonable driving distance from MS, so at the last one, we planned to buy several does. Towards the end of the sale, I saw this doe (she was one of the last lots to sell that day). I had fallen in love with her for some reason or another. My husband did not - I will say she wasn't the 'prettiest' or 'flashiest' doe. But I won that battle needless to say 😅 and she came home with us. That was 6 years ago.
Since then, she has not only produced some of the best offspring we've ever had, but she has raised kids that other does rejected. She has raised triplets successfully. Her 1st doe kid is still here with us. Not only does she look very similar to her mama, but she has the same maternal instincts, which is way more valuable.
She's queen bee around here, and she will retire here. I caught this pretty picture of her in the pasture the other day, and I thought she deserved a post of her own. We sure love our Chunky Monkey.
