Second Annual Tea & Quackers was one for the books!

The Southeast Idaho wind came in with a hurry (as it so often does), so we gathered our teacups and ducklings and moved the party from the orchard into the farmhouse. What could have been a disruption turned into an even cozier afternoon filled with duckling snuggles, watercolor painting, sweet fellowship, and all the delicious treats that make tea time so special.

Our guests enjoyed sipping three of our farmhouse tea blends, Garden Blessing, Strawberry Sunshine, and Guard Well, while slowing down and savoring the simple joys of the season.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. There is something special about gathering around a table, sharing conversation, creating with our hands, and enjoying God’s blessings together.

This year on the farm, we are raising Pekin meat ducks for the first time. Fast growing, hardy, and known for their excellent meat quality, Pekins are a wonderful dual-purpose addition to the homestead.

One thing we appreciate about raising our own meat birds is knowing exactly how they are cared for from day one. Fresh air, sunshine, quality feed, clean water, and intentional stewardship all matter. There is something deeply valuable about teaching our children where food comes from and the work, responsibility, and gratitude that should accompany it.

The ducks have quickly become one of the most entertaining parts of chore time around here too. Loud, curious, messy, and full of personality.

Over the past week, many conversations have taken place surrounding the Idaho Falls Farmers Market and its future leadership. After reading the market’s latest communication and spending time in conversation with vendors and others involved behind the scenes, we are encouraged to see steps being taken toward accountability, transition, and rebuilding trust within the market and community.

At Heritage Home Family Farm, we care deeply about serving families and supporting strong, safe, and trustworthy community spaces. We remain hopeful that positive change can come through honest conversations and intentional leadership moving forward.

At this time, we plan to be at the market this Saturday and are looking forward to continuing to serve our customers and connect with the community we care so much about.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out to support, encourage, and check in on our family during this past week. Your kindness has meant more than you know.

At Heritage Home Family Farm, our mission has always been centered on serving and strengthening families. A core part of that mission is a deep commitment to the value and protection of children, and everything we participate in reflects that responsibility.

We are incredibly grateful for the many friends, customers, and members of our community who have reached out in recent days. Your encouragement has meant so much and has reminded us that our character and convictions are clearly known. We would never support or tolerate behavior that compromises the safety and well being of children.

We want to share that we were unaware of the situation involving the former Idaho Falls Farmers Market manager and were deeply saddened and blindsided when the news came to light.

In the days since, we have been in communication with fellow vendors and those working toward meaningful change. This week, many conversations are taking place, and we are encouraged to see steps forward. We will continue to seek wisdom and will share more soon about how we plan to move forward with our involvement in the market.

For those who may feel uncomfortable attending the market at this time, you are always welcome to shop with us at our farmstand, open Monday through Saturday from 8:00 to 8:00, or online at heritagehomefamilyfarm.com.

Join us for the Farm Stand Tour on Saturday, June 6 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Spend the day visiting local farm stands, collecting stamps on your passport card, and enjoying the beauty of supporting small, local businesses. Pork loin is truly an affordable and delicious unsung hero in the kitchen.

It takes on seasoning beautifully, feeds a family well, and doesn’t have to be complicated to be good.

The key is cooking it right.

Let it come to room temp, dry it well, season generously, and give it a good sear before lowering the heat. Because it’s lean, don’t be afraid to use a little extra oil or butter—and most importantly, don’t overcook it. Pull it at 145° and let it rest.

Simple, practical homemaking like this goes a long way.

Dinner tonight: pork loin with our farm’s steak seasoning, mashed potatoes, and salad… and it was a win.
