🥚🎃🥚 LAST MARKET OF THE SEASON! Come get too many pumpkins.

🌻 Our October Market at Killdeer Farms is coming up Saturday, October 10, and it’s the final market of our 2026 season.

🍁 By October, the farm feels different. The flowers are slowing down but the marigolds are bangin’, the pumpkins have officially taken center stage, and we’re all starting to realize that this little chapter is almost over.

☕ Come grab a coffee from Lenise's Cafe, wander the farm, shop eggs, teas, honey, and our hand-made apothecary goods, or make a little arrangement at the bud vase bar. We’ll have local makers and community partners here, too, so there will be plenty to browse while you enjoy one more slow Saturday morning with us.

🍂 This is your chance to stock up, say hello, and squeeze in one more visit before the farm goes quiet for winter.

☀️Chickens in natural settings are synced up with the sun. They lay more eggs in the spring and summer, and slowdown in the fall and winter due to the decrease in daylight hours. Chickens generally need 12-14 hours of daylight to lay an egg. Right now, in the California Delta we have 12 hours of daylight. With the passing of the Autumnal Equinox that number is shrinking every day. The chickens are getting ready to take a break. Soon they will stop laying eggs and start molting. The ducks have already started their molt; there are feathers everywhere on the farm!

🦆Many farms use artificial light, increased protein feed, or temperature control to keep their chickens laying eggs every single day of their lives. Delta Tails Farm does not! Our chickens and ducks always take an annual break, usually between November and February. We will keep you updated as the season slows down.

🐣The winter is full of duckling and chick brooding. Cuteness overload!! We will be building new mobile egg houses too!
