Town of Otsego - Columbia Wind Project Survey
Columbia Project LLC, an indirect subsidiary of Alliant Energy Finance LLC, is seeking approval to construct a wind energy generating facility with a generating capacity of 277.3 MWac (megawatt alternating current) in the Towns of Columbus, Hampden, Leeds, Foutain Prairie, Lowville, Otsego, Courtland, Springvale, and the Village of Doylestown in Columbia County, Wisconsin. The project area consists of 48,377 acres of mostly agricultural land. Of these 48,377 acres, approximately 779 acres of temporary ground disturbance impacts are expected during construction of the project, and approximately 90 acres will host the long-term operational facilities of the project. The major components of the proposed project include up to 47 wind turbines, approximately 88 miles of underground 34.5 kilovolt (kV) collector circuits, a 345 kV collector substation, up to three meteorological towers, an aircraft detection lighting system tower, access roads, and an operation and maintenance building. The project proposal includes a total of 59 turbine locations, with 47 proposed wind turbine locations and 12 alternative wind turbine locations.
