Our Riverfront
On behalf of Village Council, I would like to share our perspective on the Freedom Landing project and the future of our riverfront.
Freedom Landing represents years of planning, engineering, public input, grant applications, and the dedication of many people who care deeply about Ripley and its future.
At its heart, this project is about enhancing one of Ripley's greatest assets—the Ohio River—while creating new opportunities for recreation, tourism, community events, and economic growth.
The vision has always been larger than any single improvement. It is about creating a destination where families can gather, children can play, visitors can learn about our history, businesses can benefit from increased activity, and residents can enjoy the riverfront for generations to come.
We understand that not everyone will agree with every decision. Healthy discussion is part of any significant community project. However, we hope people will consider the long-term opportunities this investment creates for our village.
At the end of the day, we all want the same thing—a strong, vibrant, welcoming community. While we may not always agree on every detail, we believe we share a common goal: leaving Ripley better for the next generation than we found it.
Freedom Landing Highlights
* A safer and repaired riverfront.
* A functional boat ramp.
* A new dock bringing boaters into town.
* An amphitheater and event lawn.
* Permanent concessions and public restrooms.
* Vendor spaces with utilities.
* A splash pad for children.
* New lighting and sidewalks.
* Historical interpretation panels.
* The Freedom Beacon.
* Rebuilt monument and memorial features.
* Seating, swings, and gathering areas.
* Increased opportunities for festivals and events.
* Picnic Shelter with Tables
* Support for downtown businesses and redevelopment.

Ripley has a remarkable history. We believe Freedom Landing is an investment in an equally remarkable future.

MONDAY MORNING UPDATE! The final schedule will be shared soon but we thought it may be helpful to share some topline information as you plan to spend your day with us on Saturday, July 4th at the Brown County Fairgrounds!

1. This is a countywide, ONE DAY EVENT on Saturday, July 4th to Celebrate America's 250th Birthday.
2. This is a RAIN OR SHINE EVENT. Things may need to be adjusted if weather gets involved. Should the weather play a part for the Fireworks, Only the Fireworks would move to Sunday, July 5th.
3. America 250 events will start at 10am and conclude with the Fireworks. The Veterans Car Show will start their registration at 8am, but other events will not yet be open. This is an ALL DAY EVENT with a full schedule to be posted soon!
4. This page is your BEST and QUICKEST way to receive updates!
5. THIS IS A FREE EVENT! You can purchase food and drinks from our great variety of Food Trucks! There is no admission fees, parking fees or fees to enter games/contests or attend the concerts.
6. Parking will be in the General Fairgrounds Parking. There will be no shuttles. There will be no parking on the grounds for the safety of families moving about.
7. The rear of the Fairgrounds will be blocked for safety to prepare for Fireworks until they are over. Traffic will be one way into the parking lot and a dedicated one way out will be available until the Fireworks conclude.
8. The Entrance to the event will be from the general parking area gate only. Please be considerate of others when parking. We realize that families may want to park to prepare for Fireworks, but please park in an orderly fashion. Trust us, you will be able to see them if you are in the parking lot and not in the fairgrounds. We also realize that people may come and go depending on their interests. Make yourself familiar with the parking and enter/exit routes when arriving.
9. America 250 will have a communication center next to the Sherriff's office who will also be there. Staff will be able to communicate at any time.
10. If you wish to register for the parade, displays or the Tractor/Machinery Display, please visit our website.

THIS A FAMILY FRIENDY EVENT. We have things for everyone and for adults and as well as the littlest of children. Enjoy!

The electric outage experienced this morning was not the planned outage originally scheduled for 6:30 a.m.

A tree on Mulberry snapped in half, taking out multiple poles and power lines. Please be patient while our team, with assistance from Georgetown, works to resolve the issue.

If possible, we will still try to complete the transfer originally scheduled for this morning once the emergency situation has been addressed.

At this time, we do not have an estimated restoration time. Continuous calls will not help speed up repairs.

Thank you for your patience and understanding
