How Are the Bees Doing?

June is one of the busiest months in the beeyard. Colonies should be growing rapidly, gathering nectar, and producing honey. Many beekeepers are seeing strong brood patterns and increasing hive populations as the summer honey flow continues.
---
What Should Beekeepers Be Doing This Time of Year?

✔ Monitor honey supers and add additional supers as needed.
✔ Watch for signs of swarming, especially in strong colonies.
✔ Ensure hives have adequate ventilation during hot weather.
✔ Continue checking for queen performance and healthy brood patterns.
✔ Keep an eye out for small hive beetles and other pests.
✔ Make sure colonies have a reliable water source nearby.
✔ Begin thinking ahead about late-summer mite management plans.
Regular inspections now can help ensure strong, productive colonies throughout the remainder of the season.
