Backyard Orchard We are a family-run orchard founded in 1994 by Dennis Sauerhage. We grow apples, peaches, and pears. Welcome to the digital home of Backyard Orchard!

Founded by Dennis Sauerhage, we are a family owned fruit business focused on providing locally grown, low-spray produce for the Cincinnati area. During the market season, you can find us at a variety of locations, including Findlay Market, Hyde Park, Northside, Anderson, and Wyoming Market. We are adding new markets this year, so check back here to see where we will be during the week. We also plan on updating this site with what variety of apples and other produce we will be carrying to each market.

I will be returning to Findlay Market on Saturday Oct 3rd. I will bring Gold Rush Pink Lady Arkansas Black and many others including Olympic pears. Hope to see you this Saturday.

Here's a mid-season update on where we're at and what we have.

On Wednesday we're at Northside Farmers Market from 4 to 7.

On Saturday we're at Montgomery Farmers Market from 9 to 12:30.

Sunday we do Hyde Park Farmers Market from 9 to 1.

What's in season:

Apples: Honeycrisp, Gala, Liberty, Rising Sun Fuji, and Pixie Crunch. We're spot picking Jonagold and Mutsu and will likely have those varieties at upcoming markets.

Pears: Honeysweet, Magnus, Yoinashi, Chojuro.

Plums: Stanley.

During the week we're at the orchard Monday through Friday from 9 am till 5 pm.

Just a head's up for our season. Here's where you can find us at the moment:

Northside Farmers Market on Wednesday from 4 to 7 in Hoffner Park.

Findlay Market on Saturdays under the market shed from 7:30 to 2.

Hyde Park Farmers Market on Sundays at the Square from 9:30 to 1.

We are also doing Montgomery Farmers Market on Saturdays intermittently, though we don't have the manpower to do it all the time. We will not be there this week.

When the weather cools we will also be at Madeira Farmers Market on Thursdays.

As always, you can come to the orchard during the week from Monday through Friday from 10 to 5 and buy apples and peaches on site.

If you come to the orchard, we'll sell you a bushel (40 lbs) of #2 apples for 10 dollars. Number 1s are 25. Varieties available are Gold Rush, Enterprise, Arkansas Black, and Melrose. Orchard hours are 10 to 5 Monday through Friday.

Dennis is heading to Findlay Market for the last market of the year. He still has great variety, including Gold Rush, Enterprise, Pink Lady, Melrose, and Suncrisp apples. He'll be there till 2!
