February we are updating our nutrient management plan and making our fertilizer plans for the season.

One source of fertility & organic matter is mushroom soil…a perk of farming in a mushroom growing area! Tom and his little helper are taking final compost samples before we start applying to the fields this spring. The lab results from these samples will give us a sense of nutrients that we are putting down and (hopefully) reduce our use of other types of much more expensive types of fertilizer. Yes, we can use fertilizer even though we are certified organic.

We’re hosting a farm tour this Saturday, 2/26 at 10 am if you want to hear more about this and any of our growing practices!

After a long, long journey filled with broken equipment, broken trucks, a confusing tale of mistaken trailer identity, and a muddy farm lane, our year's supply of potting soil arrived last week.

Actually, this is a year supply for about 6 farms....pretty cool, but makes it much more stressful when it is not just our project.

We moved into our new freezer space this week, which feels wonderful and like we have a better handle on our inventory.  As expected, we moved everything out of the previously cramped space, we found a case of this and a crate of that. So, we are having a freezer sale, Saturday, Jan 15th. 9
