NYC with my mini me!! 🍎My favorite work trips are the ones our girls can participate in. Thank you Land O’Lakes for recognizing family as the business unit in agriculture 👩‍🌾 and GenZ as the future of the family farm.

Also HUGE thank you to the village that has allowed me to travel so much for work. I couldn’t do it without all of the rides to and from school, practices 🥎🏑, games, 🧡💜💛💙and church. THANK YOU 🙏🏻

Climate Week Reflection:
It’s a very interesting perspective to be a farmer 🧑‍🌾 at Climate Week.

I’m mostly encouraged by the conversations:
1. Across the value chain ⛓️‍💥 there seems to be great interest in the farmers perspective; especially our needs.
2. I was pleasantly surprised to hear from so many industry representatives doubling down on their companies climate commitments.
3. The new buzz words are resilience and scalability. Nobody walks out resilience more than farmers. Resilience is environmental AND financial. You cannot separate the two!
4. I had great face to face meaningful discussions with some of the brightest, innovative leaders in the world 🌎

Now here’s the raw honest reflections too:
1. Farmers cannot bear the up front costs in this financial economy EVEN IF the long term ROI is there.
2. Scalability is a tricky word for me. I’m a small family farm. We need farms of all sizes but our needs are not the same. When we go for the ‘biggest bang for our buck’ we neglect to recognize the value a small family farm provides. Small family farms are often the backbone of our rural communities. EVEN IF you aren’t concerned about the impact on rural communities small family farms are invaluable in the supply chain ⛓️‍💥
Here’s why: when fewer farms control the milk market, the milk market is less ‘resilient’. It’s less agile to pivot to consumer demands, environmental or weather conditions. These small family farms help balance the market and stabilize the supply chain.
Diluting impact in efforts of scalability is a concern. In theory I don’t believe in the term balance. Efforts must be targeted to deliver meaningful results without sacrificing the small farmers.

I welcome any relevant conversations. I only represent myself; our 8th generation dairy farm; and the best interests of my shareholders who are 9, 12, and 14.

Never more true words: Invisible. Backbone. Problem-solver. Figure it out. Last light on.

Spring is tough. Being a farm wife isn’t for the weak, tender, or needy.

I’ve always been an independent woman. Nothing calls for more independence than spring on a dairy farm.

Soldier-ON 💪

They call us “farmers' wives” like it's a soft title.

Like we just stand in the background.

But there's nothing soft about it.

We are the early mornings before the sun comes up and the last light on at night. We're raising kids in between chores, wiping tears with one hand and getting supper on the table with the other.

We keep the house running when the days don't slow down.

The meals, the laundry, the schedules-done whether we're tired or not. We handle the bills, the paperwork, the phone calls... the invisible load that keeps everything from falling apart.

We're the ones loading kids in the truck, running across the state for parts because something broke-again. We adjust, we figure it out, we keep it moving.

We are the backup plan.
The problem solver.

The steady place when everything else feels uncertain.
It's not easy.

There are days it feels like too much.
But we don't quit.

Because this life, these kids, our Husbands, this farm... they're worth every ounce of us.

So no, we're not "just" farmers' wives.

We are the backbone you don't always see.
And we carry more than most will ever understand. 🌾
