The Washington Grain Commission’s transportation comparison lists a river barge at 122,500 bushels.

A grain trailer? About 910 bushels.

That’s roughly 135 trailer loads in one barge.

Moving wheat in large loads is one reason the Columbia-Snake River System matters to farmers.

Dryland farmers depend on rain, snow and moisture stored in the soil. So farmers look at wheat variety selection, optimal planting decisions, precision w**d control and practices that conserve moisture.
When water is limited, every decision matters.
