Last harvest for some of our crops.. This year Peppers did EXTREMELY WELL . We had to make some soil adjustments, so tomatoes came in late but still had a decent harvest 😎. Sweet potatoes did ok... but I know changes that I'm making for next year 🤞🏾. Purple, red, and yellow potatoes were planted 2.5 months ago just to see if I can get a harvest b4 Thanksgiving 💪🏾.

Food preservation is key in selfsustainability. Simone helped us harvest the turnips and separatethe greens from the bulbs. Thank the universe for community willing to assist us🙏🏾.

I then cleaned the greens, which took way longer than it should have, because of other household priorities, but it was handled💪🏿. I decided to preserve by cooking and canning the greens.

The greens that were not usable I have to the rabbits or composted. Our goal is always 0 waste!

It's time to feed these plants! Everything we do is a learning process. Creating a relationship with each plant helps us to understand the plants needs. We take care of the plants and they return the favor 💪🏿🥕🍎🥒🥬🍇🍅

There are soooo many benefits of Foraging food for our homestead animals🐇🐤🐥🐓:
1. Greatly reduces feed costs 📉
2. Fresh plants help maintain a healthy balanced diet 🥕🍓
3. Repetition helps identification of native wild plants and medical herbs 🌿

We've been busy!!

We are happy to announce that Seals Family Farm will be co-facilitators of the hands-on "project based learning" aspect of the Booker T. Washington High School 21-22 curriculum!
Our Self sustainability workshops will be intertwined within the Science, Social Studies, and Agribusiness constructs of the Atlanta Public School standards 💪🏾!
Yes you heard that correctly! This is the FIRST HIGH SCHOOL IM THE STATE OF GA to have an Agricultural certification! We hope to create a living environment for education that other school systems can memic in the future.
