🚜 Think farm life is all sunshine, cute animals, and pretty gardens? Think again. 😂

Around here, there’s always something happening at Rancho Rueda—goats getting into trouble, chickens demanding snacks, homemade bread coming out of the oven, gardens producing more than we know what to do with, projects that take way longer than planned, and a family trying to keep up with it all. ❤️🌱🐐🐓

We’re inviting you to come along for the real-life version of farm living—the beautiful, messy, funny, exhausting, rewarding, and occasionally downright ridiculous parts.

Last week’s farmers market haul turned into two beautiful batches of salsa! 🌶️🍅

I brought home green tomatillos with green serranos and green jalapeños, and separately, I had gorgeous orange tomatoes with red serranos and red jalapeños. The result? Two beautiful salsas, each with its own bright color and character. ❤️💚

Like I’ve mentioned before, color matching really does make a difference when it comes to the aesthetic of your salsa. Using ingredients in complementary shades creates a more vibrant, intentional-looking salsa—and these two batches were a perfect example of that!

Same basic idea, completely different look. And of course, the real test is always the taste! 🌶️😋

There’s just something extra satisfying about taking a beautiful farmers market haul and turning it into something delicious in your own kitchen.

Just another little glimpse of farm life. 🌱🥒 Walking between these two squash plants, surrounded by big leaves and beautiful squash tucked away beneath them, is one of those simple moments that makes all the work worth it. Now I just need to be patient and let them finish growing… because I’m already thinking about what’s going on the dinner table! 😍

What’s your favorite way to enjoy fresh squash?

🐔🏡 A little peek at the progress on our chicken coop!

This project has been a long and very much interrupted journey, but we’re finally starting to see it come together—and that makes all the delays feel a little more worth it. 🙌🏼

It’s amazing how exciting it is to watch an idea slowly turn into something real, board by board. I absolutely cannot wait to see this coop finished and, eventually, filled with chickens! 🐔❤️

We’re getting there! Stay tuned for the finished product. 🌾🔨

This homeschooling mama may have breakfast figured out… at least for the next few days! 😂🙌

Today’s meal prep: homemade sausage, egg & cheese English muffin sandwiches—made ahead, ready to grab, and perfect for those mornings when we need to get fed and get straight to schoolwork.

And honestly, I feel so much better knowing these are made with whole, simple ingredients instead of relying on so many processed, frozen breakfast foods. It takes a little more effort on the front end, but having a homemade breakfast ready to grab makes those busy homeschool mornings SO much easier.

The goal is to make enough to last the WHOLE week… but our youngest has an empty big toe at times, if you know what I mean. 😂 So we’ll see how long this stash actually survives!

There’s just something satisfying about opening the fridge and knowing breakfast is already handled. One less thing to think about in the morning chaos!

What’s your go-to make-ahead breakfast? And if you homeschool or have busy mornings, what’s one meal-prep trick that saves your sanity during the week? 👇

Raising goats is an adventure in constant vigilance. They have an uncanny talent for eating everything they shouldn’t and turning their noses up at the things they should eat.
You can never quite let your guard down because the moment you do, they’re off finding some new way to get themselves into trouble.

The other day, somehow, they managed to break into the chicken coop—and promptly got themselves stuck inside while the chickens escaped. Naturally, while they were trapped in there, they decided to make the most of the situation and ate every bit of grain they could possibly stomach. Needless to say, the next couple of days brought some rather repentant-looking goats. Thankfully, they didn’t bloat much, but it was obvious they were not feeling their best.

And that, my friends, is life with goats: equal parts laughter, worry, and constantly wondering, “What on earth are you eating now?” 🐐😂
