Behind every product on Avrrio there's a notebook page of ones that didn't make it.

A cold brew concentrate that tasted fine but used three preservatives we couldn't pronounce.

A wellness tea brand that wouldn't tell us where the leaves were sourced.

A "clean" protein powder where the sweetener sat in the third ingredient slot.

We pass on more than we accept. That's the actual job.

Curator pick of the week: Ethiopia Gedeb Huke, from Good Brothers Coffee.

Why this one, plainly:

1. 600 smallholder farmers at Huke Washing Station, 1,950 to 2,150 m above sea level.
2. Natural process (the cherry dries with the bean, which is where the fruit notes come from).
3. Grade 1, Local Heirloom varieties.
4. Roast date written on the bag in pen. Current bag: 07.09.
5. The cup honestly tastes like strawberry pink lemonade. That isn't marketing copy, that's the tasting sheet.
