One year on Brambleton Avenue! šŸ¤

For those just getting to know us, we’re the Scott family, and our goal is to make Basil’s a community-centered farmers market that brings everything you love about shopping local into one convenient place.

Over the past year, our community has shown up in incredible ways to support local farmers, food producers, artisans, and small businesses… and we are DEEPLY grateful.

To every vendor who took a chance on Basil’s and believed in our mission from the beginning: thank you. Your trust and support will never go unnoticed.

And to every person who has visited, shared our posts, told a friend, or intentionally chosen to shop small: thank you for helping our new space grow into what it is today.

As we celebrate this milestone, we’d love to challenge each of you to spend your dollars with a local small business this week. Whether it’s a farm, restaurant, shop, maker, or service provider, your support makes a lasting difference, and its impact will never be forgotten.

We are so grateful for this community, proud of how far we’ve come, and excited for everything still ahead. Here’s to another year of supporting local and intentional small businesses together! 🌿

🄚 Why buy local eggs? Freshness is only part of the story.

Eggs in the conventional grocery supply chain can legally have a much longer journey from hen → carton → store → your refrigerator. USDA-graded cartons may carry quality dates extending 30–45 days from the packing date.

At Basil’s, our local eggs have a much shorter nest-to-shelf journey, often just days. That means you know where your eggs came from, and you’re supporting the farmers raising the hens right here in our region.

And freshness isn’t the only thing worth asking about. How hens are raised and what they’re fed matters, too. Feed and access to pasture can influence characteristics such as yolk color and egg composition, which is why knowing your farmer gives you something a label alone often can’t: the opportunity to know how your food was produced.

We’re proud to carry eggs from local farms including:

🄚 Marzullo Farm — Boones Mill
🄚 Pure Grass Farm — Troutville
🄚 Monticiano Farms — Floyd
🄚 Cora’s Coop — Roanoke

Know your farmer. Know your food. Support local. ā¤ļø

Believe it or not… Fall is right around the corner at Basil’s!

With school starting and the holiday season quickly approaching, we’re already dreaming about everything that makes this time of year so special, and we want YOU to help us plan what’s ahead!

What would you love to see at Basil’s this fall and holiday season?
šŸŽ A favorite food or product category?
šŸ›ļø A vendor you’d love to see in the shop?
šŸŽƒ Something we carried or did last year that you want back?
🌼 Fall mums & pumpkins? Absolutely!
šŸŽ„ And the big question… how do we feel about fresh-cut Christmas trees again this year?!

There’s plenty happening behind the scenes, too! Our customer rewards program is in the works, and September marks ONE YEAR in our Roanoke County storefront! 🄳

We have lots of fun things planned for the months ahead, but more than anything, we want Basil’s to continue being a place shaped by and for our community.

We’re incredibly grateful to still be here doing what we love. None of it would be possible without your support. ā¤ļø
