Any guidance from more experienced goat owners?
Aneira, the small white one, was seen by the vet in February. She got better, but last week I noticed she had scours, her FAMACHA is 4-5, in February it was a 1. She has no fever (102.1 when I checked yesterday)
The vet couldn't see her until this morning, so Saturday I dual wormed with Ivermectin (duramectin 1.87%) and Pyrantel - they were the two I could find in my meds. I dual wormed again 12 hours later. I have given one dose of pig iron (Sunday) and vitamin B complex
Today, we went to the vet, who treats goats and is currently in classes for large animals, though she doesn't check FAMACHA properly she has been fantastic otherwise.
Aneira has dropped 14 lbs since our visit in February - she dropped a significant amount of weight over the weekend but 14 pounds?!?! She is much smaller than I would expect already.
She said to dual worm again as pyrantel is not one she uses for strongyles. I took a f***l sample in for another goat (Peach) who had no symptoms other than a pale FAMACHA and weight loss - she is fat on air, her count is at 650 for strongyles.
Her protocol is to dual wormed just one time with cydectin and safeguard.
Questions:
1. dual worm again for Aneira even though I just did on Saturday and Sunday since panacur isn't the best choice?
2. Dual worm Peach, but do it once as she days or again in 12 hours?
3. I did not take a sample in for Bootsy, but his FAMACHA is between 3-4. Should I go ahead and worm him also?
4. When should I give pig iron again? I do not want to overdose but believe she needs it.
Damona is healthy, her FAMACHA is a 1-2, no weight loss. I won't be deworming her or any if the boys who are in separate pastures.
*The last time I made a post i could not respond on my own post. Hopefully that doesn't happen this time.
