🍈 THIS IS HOW A FIG OBSESSION STARTS.
First you buy one tree. Then you start hunting varieties. Then somebody teaches you how to root cuttings. Then you discover air layering. And eventually someone looks at your yard and says: “That’s not a collection anymore. That’s an orchard.”
Around 10:00 AM at Figapalooza 2026 - Greenville's Fig Festival, four people from the fig-growing world are going to take us through that entire progression.
And these are people worth showing up to hear.
🌱 DANNY GENTILE — figBid.com
Daniel “Danny” Gentile — known as NYCFigs on the fig forums — is the founder of figBid.com, the largest fig auction marketplace in the world and a familiar name to growers who have been buying, selling and talking figs online for years.
He’ll open the program with the history of figBid.com, buying figs online, and why knowing your source matters.
Because figs can take years to finally produce.
That is a lot of time, care and anticipation to invest in a tree only to discover that the variety you bought isn’t the variety you received.
Forest of Eden learned that lesson the hard way.
Sometimes paying a little more to buy from a reputable source is worth every penny.
🌿 PHIL D’ANGELIS — Phil’s Figs
Phil D’Angelis is a familiar face around Forest of Eden events and a returning Figapalooza vendor whose fig-growing work has reached a much larger audience through YouTube and Instagram.
Once Danny has helped you find the right material, Phil takes over: Propagation from cuttings.
You bought the cutting. Now how do you turn it into an actual tree?
That’s Phil’s part of the story.
🐝 MILES GEORGE — TREES & BEES / MILESFIG
Miles George has been putting out some seriously good fig-growing content through his MilesFig YouTube channel, with videos covering air layering, honey production and plenty of what could reasonably be called fig-maxxing: pushing propagation and production to see just how much you can get from a tree.
His Figapalooza 2026 topic is air layering.
Your rooted cutting is established.
Now Miles shows you how to make more trees from it.
One tree becomes two.
Two becomes several.
And suddenly you have propagation material of your own.
🌳 RANDALL WHITE — FLOMATON FAMOUS
Then Randall brings us to the inevitable conclusion.
Randall runs the Flomaton Famous YouTube channel and is well known in the gardening world, including through his association with Comedian Gardener David the Good.
His topic says everything: “When Your Fig Collection Becomes an Orchard.”
Because at some point, “I’m just going to get a couple fig trees” stops being an accurate description of what’s happening. 😂
And that’s what makes this lineup so much fun.
Danny — FIND IT
Phil — ROOT IT
Miles — MULTIPLY IT
Randall — ACCEPT THE ORCHARD
It’s essentially the lifecycle of a fig obsession.
You can spend the morning shopping for fig trees, talking varieties and meeting growers—then around 10:00 AM, sit down and hear directly from people who buy, sell, propagate, teach, experiment and have taken this hobby very seriously.
And if you arrive at Figapalooza owning zero fig trees?
Consider this your warning.
DJ Demonfire will also be keeping the festival moving throughout the day with music, announcements, vendor highlights, sponsor recognition and updates on what’s happening around the grounds.
