Ever heard of Flat Stanley? He’s a storybook kid who gets flattened and ends up having big adventures including traveling to new places.

When a teacher from Colorado asked if Flat Stanley could visit Alabama, we happily accepted the request! Flat Stanley tagged along for a lot of farm activities throughout his visit! From learning about the cows, to watching hay be harvested, planting corn, checking out the tractors, helping restock beef at the farm store, to helping with meat deliveries, and visiting the beach – his visit was packed full of fun. Stanley got a peek at teamwork, tractors, and the faith that keeps our farm running.

Moments like this remind us that the work we do matters beyond the farm. Sometimes our work helps feed chickens an egg farm. Sometimes it helps feed families. Sometimes it sparks curiosity in a classroom. And sometimes, it just makes a kid’s day a little more memorable.

**A special thank you to the crew at the UPS store in Pensacola that helped print the book we made to send back with Flat Stanley! They took extra care of him as they helped him make his trip back home.

What’s cooking Wednesday??! 🍽️

German Smothered Potatoes and Sausage

Oma’s granny taught her how to make these potatoes, the addition of Bartl Farms beef sausage is Farmer Tim’s idea!

Ingredients:
6 small gold potatoes
1/2 pound of Bartl Farms Beef Sausage
1 small/medium onion
1 green bell pepper
2 stalks of celery
1 tsp. Garlic powder
1 tsp. Onion powder
1 tsp. Black pepper
1 1/2 tsp. Salt

Add 1/4 cup peanut oil (or your favorite oil) in a cast iron frying pan pan. Peel and thinly slice the potatoes and onion. Wash and thickly dice the bell pepper. Thinly slice the celery, and slice the beef sausage. Add to the fry pan. Add seasoning to the ingredients in the skillet. Stir to coat ingredients with oil.

Cook, flipping ingredients as you would a pancake, until the potatoes begin to crisp.

Place a lid on fry pan and lower heat. Allow pan to steam until potatoes are fork tender.

Serve and enjoy!
