Good morning!

First of all, THANK YOU for your continued support of JDP SweetCorn! You have made this season so crazy (in a good way)!

Currently, the stand is sold out as we are waiting on our next planting to mature. We are hoping to have corn ready early next week. We will post when it is available.

(In case you are wondering, we have three more plantings left to go for the season.).

It’s back-to-school week for JDP and his family so filling the stand may not happen all day long but we will make sure that it has corn as regularly as possible.

Also, we are halfway through our plantings. If you are interested in freezer corn, please message us. Discounts available for bulk orders.

Well, we haven’t had quite enough warmth to help our corn mature faster. It looks like we will be restocked mid-week.

“When will the corn be ready?”

That is a question that we get, a lot.

And in all honesty, sometimes, we don’t exactly know.

Corn growth is based off of GDUs (Growing Degree Units), which is a basic math formula that we use in agriculture. That formula uses the high and low temperature of the day as well as a minimum required temperature for corn to grow in order to calculate how many GDUs a day will provide.

Think of it this way, the warmer the weather, the more GDUs there are, which causes the corn to mature faster. While the cooler weather has been delightful for us and our animals, it slows down corn development.

But, the good news is, we should have corn early this week! (We just need a few more GDUs!).

The stand is currently out (until at least this weekend).

🌽We have finished up harvesting out of our second planting (of 8 ). We are patiently waiting on planting 3 to be ready for you.

Well, it’s the final day of the Lee County fair.

The stand has been stocked this morning. 🌽

We are tired and grateful.

Thank you for all of your support and patience the past couple of days.

If you are keeping up with JDP’s fair adventures, he won Reserve Champion Junior Master Showmanship and Champion Junior Swine Showman last night at the Master Showmanship competition!

It’s been a crazy two days for JDP at the Lee County Fair! Yesterday, he showed his pigs and set up his farm toy display (be sure to vote for it for People’s Choice if you find yourself at the fair!) He won 4-H Junior Showmanship for swine!

Today, he helped his friends show sheep this morning and is waiting to have his conference judging for the farm toy display. Tonight, he will compete in the Master Showmanship competition.

Since he has been at the fair, all of the JDP employees (Dad and Mom) have been busy making sure he has all of the things he needs to get through the day (a personal secretary to ensure he is running on schedule, someone to brush and oil his pigs, a banker to pay for his snow cone obsession, and a laundry service to make sure he has enough clean show clothes.)

Because we have all been busy with the fair, the stand was only stocked once today. At this time, the stand is SOLD OUT for the evening. It will be stocked again tomorrow morning.

We are starting to run low on the current planting, so we will do what we can to keep it going until the next section is ready (a few prayers for rain would be great!).

JDP has been busy the past few days preparing for the fair and showing his crop projects yesterday, but still took the time to get out to the patch to pick corn for the stand.

Today is the swine show, but don’t worry, the stand has been filled and is ready for customers!

Remember, we may not be available ASAP to refill the stand if it runs low but we will be checking on it as we can!
