Hi, I’m Erin, the maker behind Boot Blankets. 🤎
If you’re new here, welcome. I thought it was probably time to introduce myself and tell you a little more about the woman behind the sewing machine.
I’m 44 years old, born and raised in Oak Hill, Texas, and these days I call a 100-acre farm in New Hampshire home. I’ve also lived in Europe, traveled whenever I’ve had the chance, and eventually moved to New England to be with my husband, a born-and-raised New Hampshire native.
Horses have always been a huge part of my life. I’m a horse trainer and rider, and much of my world revolves around our farm, our animals, and spending as much time outside as possible, even when a New Hampshire winter is doing its best to convince me otherwise.
And that is really where Boot Blankets began.
I wanted something warm and practical to wear over my boots while riding, training horses, doing chores, stacking firewood, walking through the barn and generally living the kind of outdoor life that doesn’t stop just because it’s cold.
But I also wanted something that looked like it belonged there.
Wool. Leather. Traditional materials. Something functional, durable and just a little bit old-fashioned.
So eventually I decided to make it myself.
Boot Blankets grew out of my love for horses, working farms, traditional craftsmanship and things that are both useful and beautiful. Every pair is made here on our farm, and the design continues to evolve because I actually wear them, work in them and listen closely to the riders and working women who put them to the test.
Outside of Boot Blankets, I’m a bit of a collector of interests. I love old houses, antiques, leathercraft, history, gardening, farming and making things with my hands. I’m a lifelong animal lover.
I also write books, including stories inspired by our farm, its history and the animals who live here.
Apparently I’m not very good at choosing hobbies that involve sitting still. 😂
And if this page looks brand-spanking-new, there’s a reason for that too.
Boot Blankets has actually been around since 2024, but unfortunately Meta deleted my original social media accounts. Total bummer. Years of photos, followers and history disappeared right along with them.
So here we are rebuilding.
But there was a silver lining.
That unexpected break gave me more time to go back to the sewing table, keep testing the design and add some really cool new features to Boot Blankets. And starting over has already introduced me to a whole new crew of incredible horsewomen and cowgirls like you.
So maybe rebuilding isn’t such a bad thing after all.
This little business is growing again, and I’m incredibly excited to see where it goes.
Whether you found me because you ride horses, work outdoors, love traditional western and farm style, or simply appreciate something made by an actual person instead of rolling off an assembly line. I’m glad you’re here.
Welcome to Boot Blankets.
Made on the farm. Made to be worn. Made for people who don’t stop when winter shows up. 🤎
