There's more to Mexican spirits than tequila and mezcal!
We have a gorgeous lineup of Mexican rums from , and the night of Wednesday, May 20, we are hosting a class on this spirit that is often overlooked and underrepresented. Meryl Cocuzza, the National Import Specialist at (lead distributor of "geeky spirits"), will guide the class through this curated lineup of small-production Mexican cane spirits sourced from Veracruz, Oaxaca, and Jalisco — each one reflecting a distinct producer, cane variety, and regional tradition.
As a bonus, Meryl will also be pouring both 3 Años 2nd Edition rum, an eleven cask blend of pot and Krassel column still rum from the mountainous Cañada region of Oaxaca that is aged in ex-bourbon barrels and new French Oak casks, and Sierra Negra mezcal (had to throw one in!) from Santa Catarina Albarradas, Oaxaca, which is Sierra Negra agave fermented with tepehuaje bark.
This class is an incredible chance to learn about some unique, rare, and misunderstood spirits from a real expert. Tickets are $25 per person, refundable with the purchase of any featured bottle after the tasting. Over half the class is full, so if you want a seat, we recommend reserving yours via the link below ASAP!:
