Today was my chicken chore day. We used one of our old rooms in the barn to make a bachelor pen and moved down there all the roosters we aren't currently using.
In the main barn, Matt helped me tackle the pens and make some moves; we broke up the olive egger pen into what I want to keep and grow out, a cut pen, and a 100% keep pen.
I have a chicken attachment issue, so this man helping made it easier. BUT, I cut or cull hard. Slow feather growth, floppy combs, slow growers, washy plumage, and more are moved to the cull pen.
It is easier for me to evaluate birds when I know which pens to focus on, and if I can put cut/cull birds in a different pen, it is easier to sell them in a lot or send them to the sanctuary.
We should be hitting egg-travaganza soon! πͺπ½π€π½
