I started off as a culinary apprentice through Foodlink and became my own boss after that! Taste of Kay has grown year after year. Cooking for colleges, private events, on a cannabis farm, cooking classes, being on the news, etc I’ve done it all and I’m truly grateful. My journey doesn’t stop here! We began by hosting multiple pop up events around the city of Rochester for years until myself and our team were finally able to build it into our brick and mortar on South Ave. Ever since beginning to learn the art of sushi, I knew it was the cuisine I wanted to focus on for the rest of my life. We utilize ingredients and ideas from various parts of the world to proudly bring you our fusion offerings. With hard work, dedication, and love all of us here at Poké Sushi say KAMPAI!!!”

“Hi friends! I’m Jenelle Oliver, owner of Kiss Me Cookie in Webster, NY- a boutique bakery specializing in gourmet cookies, boozy cupcakes, and more.

After one year as head cookie in charge at Kiss Me Cookie, it’s been an honor to bring my foodie passion to the ROC in the form of cookies and unique creations. Our new recipes are inspired by my italian family roots, chefs I admire, years of practice and butter. So much butter.

Kiss Me Cookie has had a big year behind the scenes, but we are ready for the spotlight. I’m thrilled for what is to come, and to keep spreading love throughout our community and beyond.

“Hello everyone! I’m Cameron Phelps, the co-owner and co-creator of The Daily Refresher since 2012. I’ve operated their food truck since 2013 and created The Drinksmiths, a class that runs biweekly through the Rochester Brainery since 2014. Hospitality has been the focus behind each venture I’ve created and maintained for all of these years. Often people aren’t aware that we serve some amazing food, its sneaky good! The Daily’s menu, both food and beverage change seasonally so there is always something new to discover, whether it be a new dish, cocktail, or cozy spot around the bar! It’s been a great time serving Rochester all of these years, and we look forward to grilling, shaking cocktails and seating all of our amazing guests for many years to come!“

Part two of “Faces Behind the Food”. Introducing Yunzhi Yan, the passion behind .roc! Making the only handmade noodles and my favorite Chinese food in the area.

“I had first planned to come to Rochester in 2016 to study piano at Eastman Music School and pursue my childhood dream of becoming a musician. But like most things in life, plans change. The first full-time job I got when I was in Seattle, was a waiter job. After working in the food industry for a few years, I felt I am ready to start my own restaurant. At that point, my parents contacted me saying that they are looking to open a restaurant by their home (Binghamton). So I joined them and began my life as a restaurant owner. I learned a lot there and the more I cooked, the more my love grew for it. I studied not only Chinese cuisine but also western cuisine. In the end, I figured out the food that I want to bring to my customer: preserve the most authentic flavor of Chinese food, but also learn from western cuisine, so people can easily understand my food. I really don't think there should be a border between different kinds of food. In 2020, having saved money during my tenure in Binghamton. I decided to open my own restaurant in Rochester, Seasons Noodle. ” -Yunzhi Yan
