Sunshine Valley Organic Berry Farm

Sunshine Valley Organic Berry Farm organic blueberries and raspberries, both u-pick and we-pick. Check website for daily update on pricing, weather, hours. Maybe even beyond your imagination!

We are a pick-your-own (PYO) farm, or you can buy pre-picked berries at our farm store, along with our certified organic jam, local maple syrup, coffee, and books. We also have free wireless Internet connection at the farm store. Our berries are Certified Organic and the best flavor you can imagine. Come and pick your own for the best value, or buy your berries pre-picked at our farm store. We are

open from July 4 weekend through Columbus Day weekend. The picking season runs from early July through through early October until the first frost. Raspberries ripen first (in 2011 we started picking July 6). Blueberries are ready in late July usually (in 2010 it was July 25). Blackberries ripen after Labor Day and the 2011 fruit set looks good. We harvested a small crop of cherries in 2009--our first from these young trees--but frost and damp weather this year ruined the crop again. Growing cherries in our location is turning out to be a real challenge. Berry picking is what our ancestors did in ancient times, and picking your own berries in their natural organic state recreates a primal human experience. It is utterly unlike the world of TV and electronic entertainment, and is inherently refreshing. This is absolutely the best time a family can spend together in the summer! And good for your health too. Blueberries in particular are a super food with phenomenal healing and rejuvenative properties. Thank you all for tuning in, showing up, taste-testing raw honey, and last but not least… picking berries (‼️) over the last 19 years. It feels like it has been a labor of love 💝, not just for us, but for all who worked for and with us, cherished friends and family who carried us through some tough times, and so many customers from near and far, many of whom became part of the fabric of our lives over the years.

Hello out there! It’s a bit gray and chilly outside, but it feels really sweet in our store — literally (honey, jam, syrup, frozen berries!), and figuratively. Just happy to be here with the open sign up and Christmas carols in the background and a few lovely long-time customers meandering in. We are sharing the day with some of our favorites — Ray Charles, James Taylor, Oscar Peterson, Perry Como (from my home town;), and many others!! A quick tour of our humble store is below — including Rob in the honey room — who is my true all-time favorite!
What a touching time of year, even during these difficult times in the world. Feeling so very much gratitude, and wishing everyone peaceful, happy holidays! 🙏🎄‼️

LAST (official) Farm DAY is tomorrow SAT‼️
******
Hello~!! I have been an infrequent Facebook poster of late ~ The following is from Rob’s Front Porch Forum (FPF) post!
And, as always, the best place for daily updates (including hours—which shift in the bumper season— as well as picking conditions!) is our website: www.vermontberries.com.

Meanwhile, here is today’s post from Rob on FPF (Front Porch Forum):

Last Day of the Season at the Berry Farm

Tomorrow, Saturday, will be the last day of the season at Sunshine Valley Berry Farm. Our hours will be 10:00 - 5:00.
We still have fall raspberries to harvest because there has not yet been a frost (it will likely come on Monday night), but Sunday and Monday will be raw and wet so we will make Saturday our season finale. As well as fresh and frozen raspberries we have plenty of frozen blueberries for your winter supply and a variety of raw honeys including some recent arrivals, notably one from the hives on the farm. Details of our twelve raw honeys can be found at www.vermontberries.com.

Thinking ahead to holiday gifts, we now carry a range of wonderful 100% soy candles made in Vermont: http://www.ardentflamecandles.com/category/all-products. What caught our eye was the Blueberry Pie Taffy variety, but they are all good.

Do come on down to the Berry Farm on Saturday to pick up your goodies and say hello!

Rob & Patricia

In traditional Vermont fashion, we are committed to keeping our product locally crafted in small batches and hand pour each candle with care. We source all of our candle materials exclusively from suppliers in the USA. Our commitment to sourcing supplies domestically stems from a desire to support o...

Fall Raspberries on the shelves…
I haven’t posted in a while, because the fall raspberries were late and slow to come in for (a number of) weather-related reasons.
I am finally including photos from the last month, mostly of kind, humorous, generous, and happy customers❣️Even when the fresh berries were jus coming in, these lovely folks were ready and willing (!) to taste-test our other offerings (honey, jam, syrup), enjoy, and take some home!
We are now getting some Raspberries just a little bit more steadily, but we are still not doing “Pick Your Own” – we sell what we pick every day.
THIS WEEKEND we have additional raspberries from Edgewater Farm. They are not certified organic, but the Sprague’s have “good practices“ which bears mentioning. We purchased them because of our “less than” crop—we always make it very clear if we have non-certified organic for sale —via signs and verbally.
I will say that our own certified Golden raspberries – if there is no frost for a while longer – look like they will continue to come in nicely (just late and slow, as mentioned – I am definitely a broken record these days). I am also slow -to learn to make No promises!
And now….Onward into the day —crispy, but lovely nonetheless. Despite the challenges that mother nature throws our way, I am immensely grateful for the peace and beauty of the farm, the bees—still buzzing around our fall raspberries, all the work Rob and others have done to keep it going and afloat, and the cheerful, appreciative customers! Long days, but happy ones! 🫶✌️💪Time to run 🏃🏼‍♀️☺️❣️
