Thank you to the person who thought our farm was a good place to dump a trailer full of their trash. Cleaning up your mess is definitely how we wanted to spend our Sunday morning.

PSA: It’s not just “a field.” If you don’t own it, don’t throw your trash, leaves, grass clippings, etc. in it. That “field” is where my great-great-great grandfather decided to settle when he came to America in the 1860s. It’s the farm my great-grandfather sweat and bled on through the Great Depression. It’s the “dirt” my grandpa and his brother farmed trying to raise a combined 18 kids. It’s where my dad lost his life trying to feed a disrespectful population. It’s the farm I plant late into the night while my kids are put to bed. So the next time you go to throw something in the field, just ask first, it’s not “just a field” to the family that’s cared for it for the last 150 years.
